Vikings won't exercise option on S Andrew Sendejo

Another safety will hit the open market.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports the Minnesota Vikings are not exercising the option on starting safety Andrew Sendejo, making him a free agent.
The move comes as the Vikings are hitting a cap crunch ahead of the new league year opening on Wednesday. The decision not to exercise Sendejo's contract saves Minnesota $5.5 million. The Vikings entered the day with just $4.37 million in cap space, per Over The Cap.
Sendejo entered the 2018 season as the Vikings starter, but played just five games before suffering a groin injury and was eventually placed on injured reserve. After eight seasons, Minnesota is moving on from their starter.

Dejo will get picked up by someone.  He's a solid player, and gets lots of attention with his hits - both good and bad.  He's always been a very good ST player too.

He was here for 7 seasons you'd think I'd have a memory other then getting fined and flags for not keeping his head up.
I know it's early in the round but think I might have to call a friend already.

His pick of Brees during that one game about a year and some months ago when we all thought it was finally our year. Yeah, that would be my fave.

Well, if one is going to pick an interception play there were only 6 options in 93 regular and 4 playoff games to choose from... :p  I won't miss him or his adequate even with his very best play.  He can't leave quick enough with his wanna-be-Harrison uniform dress, his poor angles, the armless tackles, the injuries he gave his teammates, and the "big hits" that always look like he takes the brunt of.  I especially enjoyed seeing him bowled over by Blount in the NFCCG and the flying "big hit" he tried against the Bears to stop a guy short of the goal only to give himself a helicopter.  Yep, the only guy I've actively and routinely complained about over the last few seasons.  Finally!

And don't forget his red leather jacket...  That was a nice touch.  :-D

Safety is such a de-emphasized position in today's NFL, its value comes from pass coverage.
