As a history buff I wouldn't mind if the History Channel actually showed some history.

The understatement of the century.  What I don't understand is I can't think of a single program that IS history anymore. 

what about the science shows doing the theatrical scare shows.... they hyper dramatize what could potentially happen and make it sound like its imminent.

nope.... the actual science networks that have to do shows like Super Volcano,  and Super Hurrican,  and Super Earthquake... science can be scary enough without them making it into some kind of horror movie.

I know where you're going with this. Just having fun. Are they trying to drive an agenda or just cashing in on a already existing market? Disaster flicks are nothing new. The 70's was full of them. Fear shows on TV are hardly new either. You remember the Day After? 100 million people tuned into that fear fest in the early 80s. Was that an agenda to push Regans star wars package? I doubt that. Maybe they are "betting"  fear sells. Now I feel better. Stearing us back toward the topic. You're right though. I wish these networks that sell a genre would stick to what they advertised.

Its been awhile since I've seen the disaster is imminent things on History.  All they do anymore is Pickers, Pawnshops,  Aliens and digging for treasure.

i think those were on discovery or one of the other "science" channels that I watch,  although they might have been on history as well.

I think you would be surprised at how supersititous some casino bosses have been. Back in the old days they use to kick dealers for paying out too much money. Apparently there was a casino manager that placed pennies tails up under the tables to bring "bad luck" to the players LOL. We can't make people lose. But long term they will lose if they are not counting cards. The best I can do to make people lose is to speed up my dealing and get more hands out. I know there are some dealers that claim they can hit in certain sections on a roulette wheel (which I am highly skeptical of and have been dealing it for almost 8 years). But yeah if you take care of the dealers and are polite everything is better. That is true. You might get the benefit of the doubt while you otherwise wouldn't. You are far more likely to get a discretionary comp.

Their card counting method works in real life.  We had a company "casino night" back when the movie came out.  I had also read up on how they actually did it.  It wasn't hard to do as long as the amount of cards were lower then what casinos use.  Once you get into the +8 deck shoes it was well over my desire to play along. 

I think the casino night was using 2-4 decks.  Something small like that is easy to count.  I had won quite a bit of fake money that night just by doing simple math. 

Yeah it is simply Ratio of high cards to low cards. You have the running count which is the current running count of high cards to low cards (plus 1 for a 2-6 coming out and -1 for a 10,J,Q,K,A). Then divide your running count by the remaining decks left undealt. so if there are 4 decks left with a plus 12 running count you have a true count of plus 3. The more decks the more rare a good true count is.
