Everson Griffen to Resume Team Activities Wednesday, October 24
#21
I suspect EG has been battling these demons for sometime and it's probably a lifelong battle or something that will need to be controlled the rest of his days.

Whatever it is, certainly wish him and his young family the very best. Hopefully EG lives a long and happy life -- gets to see grand babies.

The word is that Griffen has a decent shot at being active this Sunday night against the Saints.

I would assume if he plays, it'll be limited snaps.  I can't see him walking right back into a starting role after his time away.  That said, even if he has a limited role this Sunday... just his presence back in the locker room could provide a big spark to the team.

Assuming family means wife i am  glad to hear his family is sticking with him after initial reports of her looking to leave him.
She was probably in full mama mode and focusing on the kids first. Sometimes when things get scary, people run. And as much as she loves Everson, those children are depending on her for security and stability in the midst of crisis. In an overwhelming situation, she did the best she could. I hope things work out for the best for all of them.

unless his hotel meltdown was an isolated event I am sure he gave her plenty of reasons to leave,  but I am strong believer that those kids will be better off with a stable father in their lives on a regular basis, so if he is truely turning a corner here I am for one glad that she is sticking with him... for the kids sake.

why limited ?
Best thing for the team and him is to get him back to work
He is rested & ready & this would be a shot in the arm for everyone
Getting back in a routine can be great to get your mind off the problems of the world
I see him being welcomed back with great emotion from his teamates, fans and opponents alike. This is part of the healing process

I am sure they are proceeding with him on the advice of  his mental health professionals.  If they are limiting him its at their discression.  They may not fully understand what triggers/triggered his episodes and by easing him back into his workload they can better monitor him for signs of any potential issues long before he threatens to shoot any more hotel staff.

they are in his head,  but that doesnt mean that things on the field cant trigger them.  I dont think there is ever really a smoking gun when it comes to the human brain and the issues its can have/create.  I read some where the scientists understand more about our solar system and how it works than they do about our own brains.  after his breakdown I read/heard from somebody that a mild concussion can trigger an episode like what Ev had.  Lots of scary shit going on with that young man and I would hope beyond anything that they ease him back into things unless they can say with great certainty that football cant hurt him mentally.

Zimmer just said that he's been working out while he's been gone and he's in good spirits. He'll practice today and they'll determine as the week goes on if he'll play or not Sunday night.

Think the home crowd might give Everson a nice welcome back?  =)

Yup.  For his sake and the sake of his kids, if he is serious about getting better, I hope they are sticking around.  And my assumption was the leaving was because he wasn't getting help, wasn't changing.  Scary situation to be in, but the fact that she had stuck around that long tells me she cares about him.
