NFL is trade crazy
#1
What, out of 32 teams you can't find ANY who might want these players who aren't the very teams standing between us and a Super Bowl? Et tu Burley? You push the knife in even further by using our own former franchise QB to improve the Saints? Surely we can find a player for the Rams, too.

4 proposed deals @GMFB this AM:

1. @KyleBrandt : Le'Veon Bell to GB for Ty Montgomery and a 2nd.
2. @heykayadams : Larry Fitzgerald to the Saints
3. @Nate13Burleson : Calais Campbell to Saints for Teddy Bridgewater & a 2nd.
4. @PSchrags : Patrick Peterson to Eagles for a 1st.

Those trades would be significant too.  Fitz and Saints would help the Saints load some for a playoff push.  Not sure I really want to see Bell in GB either.

How about this ? https://www.revengeofthebirds.com/2018/10/24/18017684/espn-trade-for-patrick-peterson-with-minnesota-vikings-and-it-is-not-too-bad-for-arizona-cardinals

The uncertainty of the Patrick Peterson situation has put the Arizona Cardinals in the cross-hairs of the mainstream media, something that doesn’t happen often, especially with a team that is 1-6.

That is the power of a Hall of Fame level cornerback.

Well, one of the more intriguing options that I have seen floated by a media member is one from Mike Sando of ESPN.

Let’s get right to it, from E$PN Insider:

Quote:Arizona would send Peterson to the Vikings for cornerback Trae Waynes, plus 2019 first- and third-round picks, with the Cardinals agreeing to keep Sam Bradford on their roster so that Minnesota will remain eligible for a 2019 third-round compensatory pick that would otherwise vanish.
That is an interesting package.

For the Cardinals, they get an immediate, younger replacement for Peterson in Trae Waynes. Waynes is under contract for 2019 and would give the Cardinals a good look moving forward.

It gives the Cardinals immediate picks in 2019 in the
first and third rounds, where they can use them to move up, stockpile
more picks or look to address immediate needs.

Imagine a scenario where the Cardinals are able to grab a
Greedy Williams in the top five with their pick, Devin White in the
20’s with the Minnesota Vikings pick, then hammer home the offensive
line on day two with players like Dalton Risner of Kansas State or David
Edwards of Wisconsin.

All of a sudden, you have young talent on the offensive
and defensive side of the ball and can really invest in the rebuild that
you have denied for so long.

It isn’t an easy pill to swallow, but would the Minnesota package interest you?

The staints are already out their 1st, 3rd, 4th and 7th. Aside from Teddy and their 2nd what are they going to trade? Damn they are going ALL IN on this year!!! With Brees being so old, they have no future.

hard pass.  Waynes is worth a low first rounder to second round pick himself IMO and has shown a lot of upside going forward, (the only real knock on him is he gets dinged, but when healthy he is playing as good in coverage as anybody)  so we would essentially be getting Peterson for 2 first rounders and swapping our 3rd round pick for a later one.

I think a Peterson for Waynes swap would make sense, but no way do I see the Vikes giving up all of that.

We are fooling ourselves if we think we are just one player away on defense. To give up that much for Peterson would be silly. Waynes is playing well. If we were just talking a draft pick, then that would be different but to subtract one of our best corners just to land Peterson and to give up those picks on top of that is extreme overpayment.

I dont, this team is cap strapped and will be looking to lose a little cap on the D to add some help to that OL,   Peterson is marginally better right now,  but is only under contract for 1 more year than Waynes currently is and would cost nearly 3 million more next year than what Waynes currently would,  and is due over 13 million the following year.  I would rather keep that 2.7 million next year and try and use it to extend Waynes himself or put it towards the OL and let Waynes play out his rookie deal unless somebody offers the Vikes a sweetheart deal of picks or players for him that actually improves the team in an area where it needs to improve like OL, salary cap, or other.

Does it even make sense for the league to continue having
midseason trades?  Shouldn’t they have
this all figured out prior to the season starting rather than getting 6-7 games
in.  It just seems bad for the league to
have Bell and Peterson constantly whining for a trade midseason and Oakland in
full on tank mode selling off assets.
