i dont have an issue with it... he had plenty of time to avoid the illegal contact but he chose to finish the hit.  we have been dinged by that call when it wasnt even contact initiated below the waist.
... you're kidding. He was playing full speed football.

We've been hit with shit calls too, but that doesn't excuse that shit call.

It was a bad call.

That said, if his body had come in on Kirk's ankles just a little lower/harder, we might be talking about how the rest of the season would play out with a backup qb in charge.

no im not kidding.  hitting them low has been a rule for several years now and it was made a rule for a reason,  this isnt about how he landed on him like the new bull shit,  its pretty cut and dry you cant go low on a QB and he did.  he made his turn and pushed for Cousins after the block that pushed him to the ground,  its a rule and he broke it.  the call was the right call as he was not blocked into KCs legs and really made no effort to avoid the contact.   if you want to argue the rule.. then argue the rule,  but the call was correct.

I've seen that correctly called dozens or times, James. This wasn't one of them.

By the letter of the rule, it was the correct call.  If you want to argue the "forcibly" part I can see that, but he still hit him with enough force to buckle him from behind.  The refs have called that and will continue to call that.  That rule is in place so QBs don't break ankles or get serious knee injuries from blindside hits...
I don't agree with a lot of these calls and think the QBs are too protected, but I'm glad the refs are finally being consistent.  No more star QB treatment and everyone else has to tough it out.  That's the only silver lining in this flag fest of QB hits.

It was a call that went the Viking's way, I'll take it. Its not like we've got Christian Ponder back there now, who nobody knows, they've got a very good known entity in Cousins who will actually GET calls from the refs (shocking!). New territory for Viking's fans.

I was arguing I don't think he had plenty of time to pull up. When you're giving it your all and everything happens in a split second, I didn't see anything intentionally illegal. Illegal by rule, yes. But I thought it was cheap, not representative of how I want a football game called. They should've used discretion IMO.

Designed to protect knees, not ankles. That wasn't even a lunge at the knees or a stumble. It was a wrap up of the ankles. Bad call, same as on Sendejo, who absolutely wasn't leading with his head.
