Just stopped in to say Hello

I know I haven't been around much, haven't been around much anywhere lately. My 83 year old mom suffered a heart attack at the end of June which really messed up het heart, lungs and kidneys. So she was in ICC for around two weeks before my brother, sister and I found her a long term care facility where she will spend the rest of her days, on top of that she was already suffering from Dementia and has the cognitive skill level of a 4 year old, we were told that the Dementia will soon turn into Alzheimer's. So the 3 of us have been meeting with lawyers and such to make sure that everything is in order for our mom. This is on top of already my wife and I have been taking care of her parents as they are getting up there in age. Her dad is 78 and fell in January and tore the tendon in his knee then need a valve replacement in his heart, and her mom is 75 and suffers from diabetes. So we have been doing all the food shopping, laundry, yard work etc for her parents as well. All this on top my oldest son going into the USAF and youngest son playing hockey 6-7 nights a week. We got 2 weeks off when the Winter season ended, and 1 week off after the Summer season ended. We started Fall conditioning last night!!
So that's what has been keeping me busy in life, I love watching my son play hockey, my only me time is I play darts on a team that could easily win the state championship, so we will see how that goes!  That season starts right after Labor Day! And I will have the Vikings to watch too!!!
Hope everyone is doing well !   SKÖL

Hi Bob, sorry to hear about your mom.  I know that's a tough road to be on.  My mom passed away late last November at age 85 from her battles of diabetes, kidney failure, and heart disease.  We had numerous trips to the ER, clinic visits, and we had to move her a few times from her apartment, to nursing homes, to assisted living, and then nursing homes again and again.  All this time she also was getting admitted and discharged from the hospital too.

It was a long year, and I was burned out.  But, given the chance, I'd do it all over again.

Good for you and your wife for doing the right things.  Hang in there, and good luck.

My sympathies to you and your family.  I know how hard it is to lose you Mom.  My Mom passed away this past July 22nd.  She was 88 years old and she did live a good life.  Makes my time with my kids and grandkids all the more important.

Sorry to hear about your parents.  We all go through it at some point - I lost both of my mine.  It seems like once they reach their upper 70's all bets are off.
How old is your hockey playing boy?

Thanks Happy. Sorry for your loss as well!  It gets tiring real fast especially as I live the furthest from where my mom now is and I am the only one with a kid still living at home (15 yo) and the only one of the three kids with in laws still alive (both actually) so we are pulled pretty thin

Thanks, but she is still alive, just doesn't remember me much going to see her. It's part of life though
