Fans better not sleep on this guy...

Terence Newman has seen it all, but he still came away from his 16th NFL training camp impressed with the play of one of his teammates. Asked this week about playing slot corner, Newman dropped a name Vikings fans should hope to hear a lot in 2018.
“If you watch Mackensie the whole camp, he’s been playing amazing,” Newman said. “He’s just turned a whole other level. He’s consistently out there battling receivers and always in great coverage. It’s just fun to watch.”
Third-year cornerback Mackensie Alexander has yet to start a regular-season game, but he enters Saturday’s exhibition against the Jaguars receiving starter treatment. He’s been the Vikings’ starting slot corner through camp and the preseason opener in Denver after playing a part-time role as a coverage specialist primarily on third downs last season.
“I’ve been more specific and more detail-oriented in what I’m asked to do,” Alexander said. “Just playing at a high level right now, having some success in camp.”

XR is 28...We've got to sign Barr and or Richardson this off-season.

Waynes contract is on the horizon. Thielen needs to be re-signed.

Could Hughes or Mac Alex move to the outside if need be? Who's better suited to do so?

We may have to move pieces around after this season.

I'm not an advocate of trading XR, I'm just thinking out loud re: the big pix. 2nd tier players are going to have to take a haircut and draft has to keep producing or it wont matter how good Brez is.

Hughes is going to be our inside CB. hes perfect for the inside.

If anyone gives us a reason to move on from TW3 it would be Mac. I really like him, I just dont see it though. I dont see Waynes leaving, hes much better than most give him credit for.

on the other hand Cincy had a history of loading and reloading up at CB. (Hall, Joseph, Kirkpatrick, Dennard, plus FAs like Newman and Pac Man Jones)

Could Waynes be trade bait for an O Lineman? If Hughes and Alexander and Hill are really blowing it away, it seems we have the assets to make a deal. Wonder how much the league would value someone like Waynes?

Young, improving, Zimmer-trained 1st round corner on his first contract? Highly. But I'm not sure if I'd be comfortable going into the season with either of those guys starting opposite XR. I think Alexander might be the more likely trade bait.

Mac Will be do in 2020 as will Waynes (or 2019 if they want to extend him before FA), Rhodes and Hughes locked in to 2022.  Mac and Waynes are the only ones that make sense to trade and Waynes has a lot more value right now and will be a tough contract to fit in.

IMO Waynes is the best piece to move if Hughes and Mac look ready.  Waynes should garner a first/high second and change IMO.

Then we can hope Treadwell breaks out this season so he can be trade bait next year.

Rhodes cap hit is to much to trade him, no way the Vikings take on that kind of dead money to pay someone else.

If you want to sign Barr or Richardson then you have to cut Sendejo, and Murray, restructure or extend Rudolph, restructure Everson.

Trade Wayne's
