Gee, if only there had been a starting-talent OG available at 30 in the draft...
Meanwhile, Austin Corbett is playing so well in Cleveland he's now their starting left guard and pro bowl guard Joel Bitonio has moved to left tackle. Also, Will Hernandez is the starting left guard for the Giants.

After sending that tweet, Incognito wasn't done. The free agent offensive lineman then sent out several other tweets that allegedly showed him corresponding through text with Vikings offensive line coach Tony Sparano. The texts with Sparano were allegedly sent earlier this year, before Sparano passed away on July 22

The first problem for Incognito is that he said he had calls from the Vikings, implying that the team called him. However, that's definitely not what happened. As his own text shows, Incognito reached out to Sparano.

The second problem for Incognito is that Sparano never really says the Vikings are actually interested in signing him or even remotely interested.
The final problem for Incognito is that if he can't land a job with the Vikings, he's going to have trouble landing a job with anyone. The Vikings are having a tough time keeping their offensive line healthy right now, and if any team could use an extra body, it's them. As things currently stand, Incognito's best chance of finding a job will probably come if a team suffers a season-ending injury on the line before the end of training camp.

MB,

You are just rubbing salt in our wounds over not drafting Hernandez, Connor Willams, etc. Clearly the Vikings thought they had solved that issue by moving Remmers inside but as we've seen far too many times in this organization, things don't always go as planned. I like Mike Hughes, and think he will develop into a fantastic player for us, but he was a luxury pick. As we feared, the OLine is proving to be a major concern for this team's chances to contend. If Easton is on the shelf for an extended period of time, we are definitely in trouble if we have to use our reserves as Starters.

Ah, hindsight. The safe harbor for every Vikings fan.

If Dalvin gets hurt again will there be criticisms that the FO didn't replace Jet? Yep.

Really, unless the team is three deep at every spot there are going to be complaints.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are maybe the only team in the entire League that could sustain performance after multiple injuries to the O-Line. Are their backgrounds high round picks? Nope.

At some point nearly every team in the League has lower round backups and journeymen who get pressed into service. It's the reality of the game.

I remember two years ago when the team didn't even have 5 competent Starters to trot out even if everyone was healthy. Now we're upset that Rick didn't use a 1st Round pick on O-Line depth. How far we've come.

considering at the time of that pick we only had Rhodes under contract past this year,  yes they could have picked up waynes 5th year and then tagged him if need be,  but honestly we arent quite as flush at CB as it might appear since it takes guys a couple years to really start to settle into this system.  we could be without Waynes, Alexander, Newman, and Sherels by this time next year.

I actually read that Cleveland started Corbett at LT, but they kicked him inside to LG because he looked terrible and didn't have the feet to play outside.  Then they tried Shon Coleman at LT and he sucked.  If Cleveland had a LT, Bitonio would still be at LG and Corbett would likely be on the bench.

yep,  some folks forget that there are teams in worse shape than the Vikings and that a player starting for those teams isnt necessarily an indicator of that players actual ability.

Someone really is reaching if they are holding up Cleveland's draft record as the basis for spielman's foibles,

What foibles? Dallas spent a bunch of 1st Round picks on their O-Line. Oakland bought one in FA. How far did they go in the Playoffs last year? What? Neither team made it?

Rick went out and bought a Franchise LT and got a serviceable RT that he had an eye on moving to RG. Hill was snagged off of the Jags P Squad and has serious potential to hold down the RT spot for years. And he has a 2nd Rounder behind him if he doesn't continue to develop.

Easton was acquired in the Hodges trade. Elfein was a 3rd Round pick. If he had been in this last Draft he would have gone in the 1st.

I'm tired of this BS narrative that Rick has ignored the O-Line. The Eagles just won the SB with a fucking 5th Round pick at LT. You think their fans are pissed the team didn't invest more in Jason Peters' backup?

Danny Isidora played last year. So did Compton. That's real NFL experience. The team will be fine if they have to start either or both.

The idea that a late round pick or UDFA that has worked his way into being a starter should have a 1st Round pick behind him if he gets hurt is unrealistic and would be poor roster construction to boot.
