Bud Grant's son, Bruce Grant, dies at 57 years old
#1
Bruce Grant, a son of former Vikings coach Bud Grant, passed away Tuesday morning because of brain cancer, according to his Caring Bridge website posting.
Bruce Grant, 57, played quarterback at Minnesota Duluth from 1980-83 while the team had a 22-game win streak, and had a tryout with the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the CFL following college.
He told WCCO’s Mike Max last October, “They haven’t told me, ‘Oh, you’ve got five years, you’ve got 10 ...’ I don’t know. I haven’t even asked that question because I don’t want to hear the answer. ... Every day is a blessing.”
He had surgery for a brain tumor in late May, the site said.
Bud and his wife, Pat, had six children. Pat died in 2009 at age 81 from Parkinson’s disease.

Sheesh.  When it rains on this organization, it pours.
That being said: our grief is not comparable to what the Grant family is feeling right now.  So I'm praying that God's peace would be with them during this exceedingly difficult time.

Thoughts and prayers again go out to someone from the Viking family.  This has been a sobering week. Brain tumor. Very sad and too young as well.

We spoke to Bud this morning via email.  He clearly did not have the news yet, but I know he expected this for some time. One of the hardest things to have happen, is to outlive your children.
