Ram, Ford, Or Chevy Pickup Truck
#1
I've got/want to get a truck so that I don't have to rent one every time I go to the dump to drop off yard waste, palms, or haul more than a shopping cart full of merchandise from Home Depot. I also want to be able to easily haul a kayak around without having to put it on a roof rack. I'm not too concerned about gas mileage as I drive about 400 miles a month. Looks like I'd have to spend 50k+ to get leather which is just insane.

Any suggestions?

The 19s are coming out, so maybe I can get a deal on an 18'...but a used one did cross my mind...

The new ones I like are now $55k, which I find absurd. I’d shop for a low mileage trade-in, knock at least half that cost down.

Don't know what your current vehicle is but have you thought of a small trailer.  If your main objective is to haul stuff from the dump and appliance, etc. from Home Depot a trailer works and is much cheaper.

No reason to buy new and throw 15-20K out the window as you drive off the lot.  Get used.  And it sounds like your not going to really use it as a truck so it will not matter which one of the three you pick.  Chevy, Ford or Dodge should all be able to do what your asking for years without many issues.

Yeah, I've never bought new.  I bought a year old Ford Explorer a couple years ago with 20K miles, leather interior, 4WD, and towing package for under 30.  If I bought the same vehicle new it would have been over 40k at the same dealership.

Save yourself some money and look around.  There are all kinds of vehicles that get traded in after a year with low miles.  Heck, for the amount of driving you do in a year, you could probably look at vehicles 2 or 3 years old with 30-50k on them and get one even cheaper.

I've lost all brand loyalty now. For many years I was a Chevy only guy. Now I buy what I like the look of and fits my need. I buy used low mile as well. As far as trucks go. One of my brothers was a die hard Ford truck man. His last one was a Chevy a Silverado. Don't know what happened with him and Ford. My friend bought one too. They have a look to them. I guess I got a little Chevy in me still. Doubt that helps you any. Good luck.
