Awesome.
EAGAN, Minn. — One of the NFL’s best young pass rushers isn’t going anywhere. The Vikings announced that they will sign defensive end Danielle Hunter on Wednesday to a multi-year contract extension. Hunter, a third-round pick in 2015, has 25.5 sacks over the first three years of his professional career. That stat ranks first among all players who entered the league in 2015. The Texas native had just 4.5 sacks during his three-year stay at LSU, but he has eclipsed that total in each of his first three seasons with the Vikings. Hunter had 6.0 sacks as a rookie before setting his career high with 12.5 in 2016. He scored his first NFL touchdown in the 2016 season opener as he returned a fumble 24 yards for a score. Hunter also recorded a safety when he sacked Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in the end zone in a Week 3 game in Carolina. Hunter then helped the Vikings defense lead the league in points allowed, yards allowed and third-down percentage in 2018 as he racked up 7.0 sacks in his first full season as a starter. He has 147 total tackles (according to coaches’ tally) with 36 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries during his career. The 23-year-old spoke earlier this summer about how he planned to approach his fourth season in the NFL. “Once you start thinking, that’s when you slow down. A lot of pass rushers tend to overthink because they’re trying to be perfect,” Hunter said. “At my position, you’re not going to be perfect. The best thing about it is to go out there and continue to train and work on your technique, and your body will react. “[I’m going to] continue to build. I’m young. I came in at 20 years old. I’m just going to continue to build,” Hunter added. “I have, hopefully if God lets it happen, hopefully a lot of years ahead of me to play football. Just growing and keep working.”

When you see the details, its very much a cap friendly deal. He could have made more $$$ by waiting, no doubt about that. Nice work by the Vikings....again. Pretty obvious Hunter likes it in Minnesota. Hunter could get another huge payday at only 28 years old when this contract expires.

Quote: @StickyBun said: It sure looks that way... the average salary per year is slightly less than Everson's recent extension. Hunter could have easily reset the DE market if he hit FA next year, but this doesn't even put him in the top 5 for 4-3 DEs in the NFL. Looks like a great deal for the Vikings in terms of the cap implications, but also for Hunter since he got a boatload of guaranteed money...

Just win it all this year and I dont care if Hunter (or anyone) ever plays well for the Vikings again. At this point, we would all just take one.
