Teddy Bridgewater looks sharp, healthy in practice with Jets

There was some recent study done showing that sitting a rookie QB does nothing to help him. You either have it or you don't. Maybe you don't start him Day 1, but after half the season or more, there's no value in sitting him especially if the team is already out of contention.

If the Jets start out 3-7 or something similar, don't be surprised to see Darnold in there. It won't be Teddy. I could see TB in there if McCown gets injured early. I just don't get why Teddy chose the Jets. Its not a good situation for him at all.
I don't know and have not seen the study but Rodgers sat for 3 years.  Cousins sat for a good part of 3 years (he had 7 or 8 starts).  They turned out OK.

I think it is better to have them sit instead of throwing them out in the fire.  The only issue is the next contract really.
Rodgers sat behind a Hall of Fame QB and Cousins was behind RG3 when he was rookie of the year and played lights out before the wheels came off. I'm sure it depends on the player, for sure, but I guess my point was that old conventional wisdom about how a young QB should sit is kind of antiquated thinking. I definitely think there is value in letting a rookie QB sit for half a year or so so he can relax and absorb, but if the team stinks, then a rookie playing 5-6 games to end the season is invaluable moving forward.

If Teddy is healthy...or healthier....he should show well.

I think there are likely guys that will succeed no matter how you handle them,  guys that need more grooming before being thrown to the wolves,  amd guys that will never make it as a nfl starting QB... I don't know how a study could be very scientific and come to any solid conclusions with such a  small sample subject size and so many variables.  I think that any study on the subject could be made to come to what ever conclusion the author wants to make.

For me, I'm not concerned about confidence.  I think guys are generally resilient.  I think there's two good reasons to hold a guy back.  The first is that you want players to play fast, and playing fast comes with knowing the plays and what the defense is doing and internalizing it, so you don't have to think.  It takes different guys different amount of time to get it.  Secondly, If guys have mechanical issues you want to correct, I think you make fixing that infinitely harder when you throw them out there too early or with a bad supporting cast.  They're just not thinking fast enough and they haven't fully developed the muscle memory yet, so they revert to what they did before and further ingrain bad habits.

I think if you're a bad team, I think the worst mindset is "Well we're already bad, we might as well chuck the rookie into the fire and see what happens" even if the fanbase is demanding it.  I think you have to look at your particular QB and figure out what is the best path forward for developing your QB, because you're already in a bad season and starting your rookie isn't really going to change it.

I dont see Teddy as for sure being traded.  If he is the better QB the Jets would be stupid to trade him away (to miami of all teams)  and then have to face him twice a year.  I know they spent a lot of draft currency on their first rounder,  but if Teddy is the better QB they would be much better served to eat the sunk costs... let Darnoldson grow for a few years and then try to get a Garrapallo type deal out of somebody or look at moving Teddy then once they know better what they have in the youngster.  IMO,  if Teddy is looking good for them the worst thing a team could do in that situation is to deal him out of town for an unproven player just because of some draft picks.

odds are Darnoldson will get a chance here or there over the next couple years due to a dinged Theodore and they will get a sneak peek anyway which will make their decision down the road much easier.  Even if they have to pay Teddy,  he would still likely come with a discount due to the knee concerns.
I don't believe Daroldson sits for more then a year, if that. You don't see a high 1st rounders sitting anymore unless it's behind a HOF. In which case it wouldn't likely be a high 1st, or one you traded up for. Sam will likely get into a game sometime this year. He won't come back out unless he's injured...imo. Jets need buzz and the rookie is the buzz they want. Not the one year rental. Like I say Teddy can only control his play on the field.
IMO the highest risk to the Jets front office/coaching staff would be to trade Teddy away (if he is indeed the best looking QB of the bunch) and then have the rookie struggle (which most do) while a Teddy led Dolphins kicks their ass twice a year.   I have to think being the coach of the Jets is a very precarious position, especially after they gave up so much for a questionable QB.
Trading a QB to a team within their own division would definitely be dangerous and have a high potential to embarrass them. A person could even argue that it was a big plus for the Jets to sign Bridgewater if they wanted to keep him away from the Dolphins or Bills.
Today I heard speculation (not even "actual rumor") that the Panthers could be interested in acquiring Bridgewater. Probably no genuine substance, but trading him back into the NFC would be preferable for the Jets.

I am not sure I see Teddy excelling in the same offense as Cam.
I am not sure I see Cam excelling in the Norval Turner offense either!  :p
