Time To Pay the Light Bill
#1
I am asking everybody that enjoys this place to take a peek under the couch cushions and in the car ash tray for any spare change they can scrounge up.   Once a year Mike has to pay the hosting fees for this site and other piddly stuff related to VikeFans.com,  this ends up being an out of pocket expense for him if we don't ante up and cover our share.

In the past we have had a "donation" button on the site for members to make a contribution, however Mike has left it off this site because in the past there was some confusion as to what a donation actually was.   While Mike and Tom have always and will always take our ideas, concerns, etc into consideration for how they operate our site,   our donations are just that.... donations.  I donate to lots of organizations and causes,  doesn't mean that I get a say in how some kids cancer gets treated or how people decide to spend my money in replacing their lost posessions after a flood.   We are not buying interest in the site and a donation does not give us any more  of a say in the operation of the site than a member who doesn't donate.  ( and the mod team has no access or idea as to who pays in and who doesn't,  Mike was the only one who does and has never shared that information in an effort to ensure fairness in site moderation.)

What a donation does mean is that since Mike and Tom are doing the real heavy lifting with their donation of time (time that could be spent with their family or following their other passions and interest) at least they dont have to shoulder the financial burden alone.

Anyway,  for those that still would like to help out financially,  do we want Mike to create a donation link once again,  or for those of us that choose to help fund the site is it just easier to reach out to Mike individually and arrange private donations?  Personally I like the donation button as its a nice reminder that our second homes need upkeep and that upkeep costs money.

EDIT:  and in case anybody is wondering,  these donations are not used to pay for any part of Mike and Toms week of reporting from Training Camp,  nor their trips to the road games to feed us coverage, those costs are out of their own pockets,  these donations are used for the site and its costs.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

I would be fine with a donation button.  But let me know either way and I would be willing to donate.

I vote for a donation button.  If Wikipedia can do it, why not us?!  Wink

Put up the button. This community has always been good about supporting ourselves.

Give me a button.  Just make sure it is clear how many shares each dollar is worth...  B)

Kidding.  But yes, we need a donate button.

And as long as we all get copies of Mike's and Tom's W2's, a complete inventory of all hardware/software equipment, maintenance schedules, contracts and expenses, I'm good.  Wink

OK,  they Yeas have it.  Mike gave us a donate button on the main navigation bar at the top of the screen.  Please let me or Mike know if anybody has any troubles finding it or actually donating.  I gave it a trial run through pay pal and am waiting for Mike to confirm that he got the funds but it seems pretty easy.

Actually I think a donation button would help me remember that I want to continue assist in footing the bill around here.

Looks like I didn't have to vote before it was decided. I like the donate button. That was so easy.
