Haven't gone through it yet, but this was obviously a lot of effort to put together (and take apart).  Thanks Geoff!

Great job Geoff and Tom. Geoff, do you think we will draft Rudy’s eventual replacement this year?  There seems to be a few quality TEs in this years draft but it may take a pick in the top 3 rounds. Not sure if those players are worth it.  Thoughts

Really enjoyed this breakdown, thanks to Geoff and Tom for putting this together. Geoff, you mentioned that the Vikings could possibly again draft a CB in the first round. Have you heard anything that gives you a better sense of how the team feels about extending Waynes? Are they truly all-in on him? Out of Barr or Waynes, which one do you think is more likely to get extended than the other, assuming the team can't get both deals done?

I do think the Vikings will look heavily at TE's. But I don't know if it will be to replace Rudy. Rudolph is good in-line and works well inside the formation. You can isolate him in the red zone but his bread & butter is finding the soft spot in zone coverage or beating up on smaller LB's & DB's. There is a role for a player like him on almost any roster and his value often goes unnoticed. What the team needs is a TE you can line up anywhere on the field. Someone you can line up on a corner and move around the field. Not only would this cause a number of nightmare matchups for the defense, it'd actually make Rudy's role easier.

I think they both end up getting done. Wayne's 5th year option buys them some time too. But drafting a corner is for depth and the understanding most DB's aren't highly productive until years 2-3. Right now if anything happened to Xavier, Waynes, or Mac the team would have a massive issue. So taking a CB who can get some snaps immediately fixes that. Also, if you even have the thought in the back of your mind that you could potentially lose Waynes or Mac in the future you need to start developing a replacement now. They got saved by Newman when Munnerlyn left but they don't have the money to go DB shopping.
