According to @PFF, Kendall Wright caught 41 of his 51 targets from the slot last year; his 80.4 catch rate was the highest in the NFL from the slot.

I wont say much against the signing until I see the contract, but I didnt think we really needed another slot guy. I hope like hell Treadwell comes into his own this year, we are missing that big bodied jump ball guy. If I was Laquon i would be calling and texting Kirk about every day to try and set up some workouts with him at least 2 or 3 days each month until the season starts. I suppose I should learn his name huh?

He seems like a nice under the radar signing. Solid production throughout his career and should be a good 3rd/4th option. Still sucks that we lost Jarius Wright, but glad that we found a decent player and can free up the draft a bit.

From Fansided :
”...Kendall Wright with the Bears in 2017, per @PFF: 41 slot catches on 51 slot targets for 393 yards and a touchdown. Thielen was Minnesota's primary slot receiver last season. This pushes Thielen outside to match with Diggs as explosive targets. Yikes. “ ”...With the coaching change in Matt Nagy, he clearly was just looking in a completely different direction from Wright. That happens. As mentioned, Wright is not a huge loss in the grand scheme of things. However, where he went does hurt. The Minnesota Vikings are ready to win a Super Bowl. Wright may not be a great fit in the Matt Nagy offense, but he is a solid depth wide receiver option. With Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs and adding in some depth of Laquan Treadwell, this is a loaded group. Wright as a leading receiver is a nobody. Starting between Diggs and Thielen and he is becomes an impact player. The Vikings are going to be a tough out next season, there is no doubt about that. “ “... And don’t get too caught up in the fact that Wright managed only one touchdown reception this past season. Amazingly, no wide receiver for the Bears totaled more than a single touchdown reception. ” |
