Report: DT Sheldon Richardson visiting Vikings
#11
Seahawks have not offered 11 million*, the Vikings are definitely in the mix! Perhaps on a 1 year deal.

*note: was apparently reported in error earlier

Unless he really wants out of Seattle, he wont be in Minnesota long. Read on pro football talk that Seattle has offered him 11 million a year.  No way the vikings pay that.

The Vikings can make him a competitive offer.  I doubt he would agree to a visit if we weren't talking the right numbers.

He'll probably seize up over this if the Vikings do sign him.

why do we still have fans questioning if we will pay someone. we just gave the largest contract ever to a qb, fully guaranteed. we paid favre 40 million for 2 seasons. we paid Jared allen, Harrison Smith, and rhodes with top contracts at their position.

we arent scared to pay anyone. fans that think so come across as masochists that just want to wallow in self doubt or pity.

if we like a guy, and can pay him, we will!

Maybe but 11 million is almost Linval money and he is a pro bowl caliber player.  Richardson has 2.5 sacks in the last 2 seasons combined.
I'm getting the feeling a few of us don't quite know who Sheldon Richardson is. Don't get hung up on stats. As a 3T he's a prototype. Equally adept at rushing the passer and stopping the run, he's frequently double teamed. He's been the focus of every offensive line he's played against. He was drafted 13th overall in 2013, and after his DROY rookie season, in all redrafts I can recall he was re-slotted #1 overall. He made the Pro Bowl the following year. He's had some off-field issues and was suspended for a stretch, but this is a pro bowl caliber player. And in our defense, he would absolutely dominate. Trust me, if we can pull this off...to paraphrase Kirk Cousins, YOU LIKE THIS!

You're suggesting that Richardson could play here and may only get 2-4 sacks in a season, but Griffen and Hunter might each get another 4-5 because QBs aren't just stepping up and away from them into a clean pocket??

He was 9th in total QB pressures amongst all DTs last year.

As with BRob, it's not about the sacks. It's about making the QB uncomfortable and either hurry the throw or the read.
