Why is it news wear thy that trump had a sexual relationship with a portal ten years ago I just don't understand why this is a big deal

Well, there's gotta be SOMETHING as the whole collusion story isn't bearing the fruit some people (and whole media outlets) so dearly hoped for.
I only care about it insofar as I'm annoyed that it's listed with more-important headlines, and it may or may not be telling in regards to our president's ego and impulse control...which is kinda how I felt about 20 years ago, too.
I have no affection for Emporer Cheet-O, but as was pointed out many times: it's funny how his words/actions didn't seem to bother people when he was still a Democrat.

oh most definitely.... i wonder if Bill even voted for her.
I actually wanted to like Bill, he was one of those guys you felt like you could have a beer with, but his nafta just pissed me off as a guy from the plains states, I knew it wouldnt benefit us one damn bit and it actually hurt many small midwest towns and farmers.... but hey, the rich get richer and everybody else better learn to adjust.
anyone who voted for any of the Clintons have absolutely no moral high ground to condemn Trump.
I don't see the big deal when I was in my mid twenty I was managing a strip club in Tucson so short story is I was introduced to a feature dancer at a different club in Tucson that was doing porn movies at the time I hung out with her whenever she was in town she was a very sweet fun nice girl and extremely hot lol

Since you asked here is why it is news...
First off the fact that Trump had a sexual relationship with a porstar or anyone is not news in itself. It is news because...
A. He (his lawyer in particular with or without his knowledge) had the porn star sign a non disclosure with an LLC (that had been created by Cohen a few weeks before) in the days leading to the election and the porn star was paid 130K. Given this was so close to the election makes people wonder if this was done to
- Prevent it coming out before the election (thus influencing the election) and
- If 1 is correct then the payment of 130K would be qualified as either campaign contribution (if it was the layer's money) or undisclosed campaign funds (if Trump paid from his pocket). either of which technically is not a huge deal anyways from a legal standing as FEC campaign fines are not that steep
B. From a PR standpoint, Trump and his people have been allover the map with lies upon lies on what actually happened. A quick summary below
- Trump did not know the porn star
- Then when proof surfaced the narrative became ...the porn star lied. Nothing happened
- Then port star's lawyer said there was an NDA and the president did not sign so it was deemed invalid and they want out of the NDA. Two of the three people signed the NDA (Porn star and LLC)
- Sarah Sanders then said "case was already won in arbitration by President" and NDA is valid.
- NDA becomes public with Trump (Dennis Dennison) signature missing matching what layer said. News also broke that the LLC was created by Cohen to disguise the payment.
- Then Cohen some how brings back issue in the news that he paid the 130K from his pocket (taking out home equity loan on his house) without telling Trump and Trump had no idea about it (this disclosure in itself is a ethical violation for Cohen)
- Trump on airforce one says he did not know about agreement or payment (supporting point 6 above)
- Then Cohen's stuff gets confiscated by feds including stuff for porn star on a separate investigation.
- Cohen says he will plead the 5th for porn star case due to his involvement in another case.
- Guliani (newly hired Trump lawyer to replace Ty Cobb) says Trump was aware of payment and money was funneled through lawyer and the 130K Cohen paid was re-embursed through retainer of 35K installments. This new disclosure by Guliani was echoed on two Fox news appearances. Also said he discussed this with Trump.
- Trump supports Guliani's version (line 11) in a series of tweets (so he knew about the payments and also retainer)
- Trump backtracks from what Guliani said and what he tweeted and says Guliani does not know subject matter yet
- Trump tells reporters he did not say what he said on Airforce One (line 7) about not knowing about the agreement or payment. Says Guliani will issue statement shortly.
- Guliani issues statement that what he said (line 10) was not what Trump said but what he thinks happened (trying to walk back all he has said)
- So we are back to Trump did not know about the payment and the payment was not an attempt to influence the election even though Trumps lawyer (Guliani explicitly said it was a few days ago)
Again all this does not matter in the court of law. The lies and changing story just creates a PR disaster for Trump and why the media is trying to get to the bottom of it.
C. Russia investigation. The porn star case just provides more proof to the inconsistencies from the white house as they cant even keep the story straight. If this story keeps changing by the minute what else could they be hiding

Every administration is going to tell lies at some point. What is alarming here is the quantity and propensity to lie about any and everything from this administration and Trump in particular
