Panthers Not Expect To Tag Norwell

can the Vikes afford another free agent OLineman?  we are already carrying some pretty good coin in Reiff and Remmers and I suspect that Norvell will command 4-5 years around that 10-11 mark with about 35 guaranteed?
How about we leave Norval to Carolina and take Norwell.

If we're going to spend big money in free agency, I'd rather it be for Sheldon Richardson.

I'd sign Sam and Teddy to 1-year deals, spend the big money on the 3T and then draft the OL.

Richardson is intriguing and you have to wonder if he is going to play well once he gets paid.

I wonder if Muhammad Wilkerson would be a fit if the Jets cut him.

I think the defensive tackle class in the draft is pretty good and the Vikings may be able to snag a decent one in the top of the first round.

At the same time, after Norwell and maybe Pugh there may not be too many free agent offensive linemen available.

Honestly, I don't think throwing huge money at a guard is what we need.  We have lots of options at guard.  Easton seemed to be very good at LG and I think Remmers or some of the young talent can nail down the right side.

Gunna make this simple:

Top money for O-line:  $49,576,393 - Super Bowl Champions, Philadelphia Eagles
$20,256,694 - Our very own Minnesota Vikings

Someone asked if we can afford to spend that much on an offensive lineman.  Well, above is $30 million reasons to invest in the offensive line.

Go get Norwell and resign Easton, follow that up with drafting the top OT available.  We need to get serious about winning.  Put Case Keenum behind Philly's o-line and he would eat up the Vikings too.  Let's built Case a line right here in Minnesota and get back after it.  We have the money!

They also have a QB at the fraction of what we will have to pay. They have a luxury for another 3 years.

Welcome to the board.

The offensive and defensive line were a big part of their success.  But paying money isn't a guarantee of success.  What did Carolina pay for their O-Line?

Honestly, the biggest factor in Philly's success was the coaching.  Being ahead of the game, innovating, decision making were all a huge factor in their playoff run.

Carolina's O-line was $28,986,315.  The point I was trying to make is on a team that's one game away from the Super Bowl, you look for where you can improve the team.  Phily's O-Line was a tremendous part of their success this year.  There's a $30 million difference in our lines.   We can certainly afford to pay the best available LG Norwell and make our left side of the line rock solid with Reiff, Norwell and Elflein.  Resigning Easton, a Restricted Free Agent would equal out losing Berger due to retirement.  I really like Easton's pulling abilities anyway.  Drafting a top RT would be perfect to kick Remmers inside or relinquish to Easton or another player on the squad.

This. Doug Peterson and staff were the ones that made that team what it is...and they did it in 2 seasons.
