Case is now the future
#51
Other than total yards, Brees and Keenum had very similar numbers. Give Case another game and a half to add to his total yards. But, Brees had 8 INTs and 3 fumbles to Keenum’s 7 INTs and 0 fumbles.

Is Case a HOF QB like Brees? No, but Brees was let go by the Chargers. they didn’t think he was HOF material either.

I guess the one thing that I don’t like about the whole situation is Teddy may be gone after this season. I like the kid, I think he is a quality guy. But, I think the same thing about Case and Sam.

You have to give Keenum some money and keep him based on this year.

case is a very easy guy to like, but still doesnt seem to be a guy that could carry a team on his own. if he’ll stay for a decent amount as we develop sloter or a pick so we can also sign diggs, barr, hunter, etc... sure. but if he wants 20M+, i doubt it.
um........he pretty much carried this team today. one shit pass which happens.  otherwise he threw everything you could ask for. most of those passes were nuts on a nat acurate.
It wasn't just that one throw.

The one to Jarius to put us in field goal range.  Or the one to Thielen.  That was a solid performance.
he threw balls that were caught yes,  but he leaves a lot of yards on the field because he doesnt lead his receivers very well,  but... the balls are completed which is the most important part.    there is room for improvement,  the question then becomes can he improve or are we seeing his ceiling?  at his age I dont see arm strength improving so I dont know if he will ever be able to put enough on a flatter trajectory pass,  the lob passes may be his compensating?
Funny people using some of the great catches as proof of a great QB.  I like Case, but this was the Washington game all over again.  Playing well, gets careless and thankfully we win.

The INT off the back foot while getting hit was the epitome of what you don't do as a QB.  Saints just scored, one play and we give it back to them deep our end?  That was a huge turning point in the game.

Insane that people would want to pay him franchise money and handcuff the team.  He is a solid starter in the right offense.  But he wasn't solid yesterday.
I cant believe how dismissive people are about the concerns.  Yes he does some things really good,  probably one of the best in the league in extending plays and keeping his eyes down field,   but decision making is a big part of the position and we all know how Zim is when it comes to limiting turn overs and Case once again showed a lack of sound decision making in that pick,  he needs to do better especially next week on the road in what should be an even tighter game.

its funny how many people were down on Teddy because of his lack of arm strength,  but seem to be fine with Cases weak throws.   I think Teddy has the stronger arm but some how its not an issue now.

with all that said,  the Vikes do need to make him a decent offer if they think they can keep him in an offense that favors his skills,   I think he is likely in that 20 million per year range for a contract average.   I keep hearing 15 million getting tossed out... Tyrod freaking Taylor made that much on his last deal.  And really the only contracts smaller than that are rookie deals and journeyman back ups.  Case has warts, and I dont think he will replicate this year again, (lightning in a bottle)  but I think he can be a pretty damn good place holder and keep us in the playoffs for a few years until we can find that guy with the big arm and great decision making... i  mean 3 years right...should be long enough to find a franchise QB.... how hard can it be right?
Pick your poison?

1.  Case Keenum $15M a season 2-3 yrs
2.  Teddy Bridgewater Prove it deal
3.  Sam Bradford 3 yr $20M s season

I hope we can keep Case and Teddy but I doubt Teddy decides to stay if someone guarantees him the starting spot.
I dont think you will get Case for 15 per year.  That is the basement for starting veteran QBs.  If you think he is as good as you say,  why the hell to people keep thinking he will play for Tyrod Taylor money?  maybe I am way off,  but I dont see Case thinking he is a cheap player after the way he has played this year.  I think he will want to either stay in MN or stay with Shurmur,  I think its very likely that Shurmur would want to take Case with him to AZ ( I say thats where he ends up)

I dont know if Sam gets more than a year @20 million unless there are a lot of team outs and health clauses in it.

Teddy,  after he got shut down yesterday,  I have no idea where he is at in terms of being able to play and thus his value.
using Spotrac as a source for potential Case salary:

When I looked about a week ago it had calculated Case's market value at 4 years about 18 million per.

Now I checked today and they have increased his market value to 4 years 21 million per.  They compare his stats too 4 recently signed QB's:

Now we'll compare our variables and Keenum statistically over the two seasons prior to their signing. In this case we're analyzing: Games Played %, Passing Yards, Passing Touchdowns, Passing Interceptions, Completion %, Passer Rating, Rating

LMAO one fucking interception after a divisional playoff win.  Better numbers than Brees.

You guys can analyze all you want.

I am am so sorry Teddy isn't the qb.
You're inability to take context into account is the real head-scratcher here, not our well-stated positions.

That wasn't just some regular old interception that could happen to anyone.

That was a Kizeresque dumb throw. And he made at 6 more of those during the season that mystically doinked off of Defenders hands.

Why do you think the Head Coach of such a good team would say that his QB has a horseshoe?  Because it's been true the whole year and plain to anyone but the Case homers.

I don't give a rat's ass if Teddy, Sam or Case QBs this team. I just want the team to win. Period. Throwing boneheaded picks in the Playoffs doesn't usually lead to wins.  Keenum cleans it up and stops taking bad sacks then he deserves to be the guy. If he doesn't Philly will be in the Super Bowl.

LOL the guy has performed all year.  And our oline didn't perform well in second half.

Your ability to create context is silly.

And I am not a Case homer.  I think Sam is our best qb.  And I think Teddy is done.

He's not going to get stafford money.  I'm betting he'll get escalators in a contract that can pay up to $20M but not $20 out the gate.  The worst thing with Case is he's already 30.  Its not like you're going to build around him.  He is at most a couple year bandaid.  Not the best but not the worst QB out there.

If you have a better QB option spill the beans man?  What would make you happy?  Right now we're all fans spending someone elses money and planning the future of guys when we can't possibly know what they feel/want.
who the hell said anything about stafford money?   you say 15 million,  i am simply saying that you are dreaming if you think a guy riding a hot streak like Case is will sign for basement dollars.  you are all in on Case at 15 million,  and I likely would as well,  but I am expecting him to command between 20 and 23 if he completes this amazing run.  as of right now I say he will see offers in the 20 million dollar range.  so i ask you,  how high do you feel comfortable going on Case with the escalating price tag?  At what point do you say that is to much to spend on a guy with the limitations that he has despite his one good/great season.  how long do you sign him for at that higher salary?   He has 1 good year and 5 where he his play really yo yo'd .

It is rather telling once the childish retorts come out.  Especially ones that don't make sense.  Teddy wasn't even active for the game.  He isn't in the conversation right now per the coaches decision.

The ignorance of some is astounding.  Ignoring some bonehead plays because it doesn't fit in their narrow point of view.  Case is likely the starter for the rest of the year, however long that may be.  The OP was that Case earned a huge payday on a desperation heave.  That is a real headscratcher if you watched the entire game.  He made some plays, extended some with his mobility, but was also a big part of the offense struggling and then handing the momentum to a team that should have been out of the game by then.

LMAO ignorance of some?

Go fuck yourself.   Who makes you smarter?

Let's go back the past month and look at who thinks Teddy is better than Case and should be our qb.

You aren't smarter.    You are a douchebag though.

The OP said "Case made some bank today. 3-4yrs 15M a season?  Sam is gone. Maybe Teddy stays for a backup roll?"

I am sorry if you disagree with this.  But hey - I am sure you think Teddy will be our qb with that 15 million salary.
