My Trip to Lambeau Field -Probably never again
#21
This is why I purposely avoided going to this game...  First time playing the Packers since Rodgers walked into A. Barr...  Packers freshly eliminated from the playoffs...  Drunk, cold, pissed off Packer fans in their own stadium...  figured there was a good chance the Viking fan experience would be less than ideal.

I was actually offered tickets to the game from multiple friends and family.  Said nope, I'm not going every time.  It was even easier since it was so close to the holidays.

I'm glad you came back to recount the tale.  Sucks that it happened.  However, I think this was probably a once in a lifetime incident...  I have a couple Packer buddies I've gone to Vikings/Packers games in Lambeau with and it definitely helps having some Green and Gold on your side...  keeps the loose cannons away and I haven't had any issues at games with them in tow (probably helps the one guy is 6'8 with hands the size of Christmas hams).

If you want to go to another game in Lambeau next season, you can roll with my crew.  Good dudes, big football fans, but other than some good hearted smack talk, we have a good time no matter which team wins.  Feel free to hit me up and we can try to get a group of tixs so everyone can sit together.

The thing is that the overwhelming majority of the younger packer fans were super cool. Like really super cool. It was the over 50 crowd that were just nasty.

I have been to several games at Lambeau including Favre’s intitial return in a Vikings uniform. As much as I can’t stand the Packers, nor their fans, I have never had any trouble there.  Some good natured banter back and forth but nothing unexpected really.

I would say that cheering “lets go Vikings” when a Green Bay player is down with an injury could easily be construed as cheering for the injury, intentional or not.  If similar happened in Minnesota and the roles reversed I wouldn’t be none to happen with that fan.

Might have something to do with spending their entire lives with HOF QBs and 2 titles...lets check back in 30 years after they experience what the 50 somethings know is coming...decades of futility...staring up at the Vikings at the top of the food chain...

True, but things can't be orchestrated and timed at an event like this...It's always ripe for "issues" going to enemy territory and this game was as ripe as an apple sitting out on the stoop for a week in July.

Frankly, going to Philly for an NFCCG would probably be much, much worse...
