Random Ramblings~my how things have changed
#1
Well, pooh....I had a long, perfectly worded post written up, went to see if I could attach a photo and lost the entire thing......so this probably won't be as good as the last, but you of course won't know that because I lost it!!!!! great googly-moogly!!!!!  and UGH!

Don, the family, the move
~We listed our home in Tucson, AZ, after a 10 week remodel job, in late September. Had only 3 'lookers' in 5 days and I thought 'crap!' Well, seems 3 was enough as we had two full price offers in less than a week.  The house sold on October 21st and Oct 28th we loaded up the trucks (Don & Kasey in the 20' box truck, me with the Dodge & little trailer and Em bringing up the rear with Bosco, Smudge (snake) and all our necessities~see fishing gear and food!) and moved to Golden Valley, AZ.  We have been living in a 1 bedroom vacation rental since.  We have put in an offer on a home and it was accepted.  If all goes well, we will close on January 19.  We are very cramped where we are, but have adjusted and love the area......we get to watch mule deer from the front porch.....having a hard time keeping Don from getting his bow out of storage!
~Don's health is pretty much the same.  The cancer causes very little issue for him, but the treatments kick his ass for about 3-5 days.  He gets those every 6 months.  His back is still killing him, but that is to be expected, with all the damage he inflicted on it over the course of life.  We keep hearing very good things about the medical up here, but damn.....getting an appointment in a small town during the holidays is proving quite difficult!
~the girls are adjusting nicely to the area.  They love their new school, especially the fact that they play the National Anthem every day and they only go Monday thru Thursday, which gives them additional time for..............
~FISHING!!  That is the main reason we moved up here.  Get somewhere where Don can do what he loves most.....fish!  And he is excelling at it.  So far he has landed a 3+ lb small mouth and an 8+ lb striped bass.  He holds the family record(s), but I thoroughly intend to challenge him in the coming months!!!  Emma is a fishing fool and Kasey, well let's just say Kasey has a blast when she is catching but when the fish aren't biting, she has to amuse herself in other ways.......like building small fortresses upon the shores of Lake Mohave.
~we had to be out of our rental for a couple nights so Don, Emma & Bosco went to camp at Telephone Cove, NV and Kasey and I camped at the Colorado Belle Hotel & Casino (where we spent one night painting Christmas ornaments).  We went for a drive up by Spirit Mountain in Nevada then went on to Christmas Tree Pass.  We had been there a few years ago and I swore we would someday decorate our own tree......and we did!  We found the perfect little juniper, dressed it up and made it our own.  That night we sat on the shore of the lake with a fire going, the girls goofin' and that Super Moon rising.  Don looked at me and said "This is the most relaxed I have ever been."  Mission accomplished!

The Vikings
~I have missed almost the entire season, as we only have Roku TV.  I watch Survivor & some news on the internet.  I have seen the entire series of That 70's Show......don't EVER need to see that again!  Don has fed his hunger for Longmire.  And Emma & I got hooked on Sherlock........I need more!!!!  Oh and Kasey is content to watch Friends over and over and over and............
~We went to a 'sports' bar in Kingman.  Got there early enough to pick any table, so chose the one right in front of the massive television and said 'Vikings/Panthers please!'  Ordered food and settled in to watch some football.  a couple other folks came in with kids and the like.  The first good purple play I shouted 'YES!!!' and I swear the waitress was gonna go all librarian on my ass!  I am not kidding when I say it felt like we were watching football in church.  We ate a little, golf clapped and got the heck out of there.
~I did not realize B-Rob was no longer starting.  Broke my heart.
~We will go to a small restaurant this Saturday night to watch the Vikes beat the Pack.....yeah I know, but say it with me GeorgiaVike.....THE PACKERS SUCK!
~my favorite joke of the year is 'Aaron Rodgers walks into A. Barr!!!!'
~hope to be all set up in our new home to watch the Steelers/Vikings Super Bowl!

The boards
~My father always told me 'the only thing that remains constant is change.'  When the proverbial shit hit the proverbial fan relationships were damaged and some will never be repaired, but an internet message board is not worth the stress.  If we were 'friends' before we are friends still.  I hold no ill will against anybody on any virtual site (well, except that one guy).......So many here have meant the world to me and you still do!  I just don't post much anywhere now.......
~because I prefer to watch grown men trolling for monster fish on Lake Mohave than to see somebody try to hook a sucker on the internet.
~I know Firerose had a horrible time trying to get on to this site.  Don't know if she ever made it. Special lady~
~This is not the first time I've come here to post.  I have tried a few times over the course of the past several months, but always gave up after trying to figure out my password.......this time I gave the extra effort because............

Just about a year ago, two very special men worked their elfin magic (jimmyinsd & Pops) and sent me a video message from Brian Robison sending holiday wishes and prayers to my family.  It was then and is now an incredible act of kindness that will never be forgotten!!

Well, that is enough rambling for now.
Skol! Purple Peeps and have yourself very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!

SASS!!!!
Great to hear from you. Miss you a bunch, but understandable with so much going on. Appreciate the update, sounds like everything is going well...so happy for you. Don't be a stranger - hopefully in your new house you'll be able to drop a few lines here once in a while. Vikings are IN, Packers are OUT....and all is right with the world.

Have a great holiday with the family.

Sassy, good to see you here. I don't post here nearly as often as I used to...tried to stay out of the cross-fire and life happened.  I saw the photos on FB of Don's big fish...your girls are pretty funny, I will say.

Hi Sass, thanks for the great note.  Folks here have been wondering how you've been doing (myself included), and it sounds to me like you're "living life" - good for you, Don, and the kids.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
