Any More Chanting for Teddy??
#41
I put zero stock in anything Bridgewater did today as some precursor to where he is at as a QB. I was just happy to see him get out there and get some live reps. Hoping to see more before the end of the season (Bears game?).

Keenum is our QB going forward and I'm thrilled that he is. Class move leading the Teddy cheers today as he took the field. Just really goes to show what kind of leader we have in him.

OP is fucking blind (im being kind)

two throws both touched WR hands. none were side arm. me think OP sees what he wants even if it isnt there. case has played good enough to start. but this in no way means the team wouldnt be ok going to teddy if needed

was calm in poocket and went through three reads before being a little high on throw to McKinnon while being sandwiched. probably couldve been bette throw. but was catchable. more or as catchable as Diggs tipped passed that was Int last week

im glad we have both qbs. and that int dfoesnt take away from the resepct our fans and players showed teddy. we were up 34-0 its not like teddy was gonna come in run offense at full

The outpouring of emotion by the fans in that stadiums says it all. TB impacts people just by his attitude and how he conducts himself in such a positive way. The players on the team gush over the guy, so does Zimmer. You ever see Z go on about somebody like he does Teddy? Its a lovefest.

Now what does that mean going forward as the QB of the Vikings? I have no idea.

My main thought on the whole thing was that we didn't give him enough time to play.  Going into half time, I was thinking we could have started Teddy at the half, but we'd probably give Case a drive and then switch to Teddy.  We were up by 3 TDs and 3 2pt Conversions at the half.  I thought it was a no brainer.  There was no way the Bengals were coming back from 3 TDs.  For whatever reason, Case started into the fourth quarter and Bridgewater basically got handoff duty which ensured no one would be able to tell anything and that he wouldn't have enough time to knock any rust off or calm any nerves.

Case is rocking it, thats great, but as Vikings fans know it's not a given that your starting QB will remain healthy.  If we're waiting to be up 4 scores, Teddy is never going to see any playing time.  There's just not going to be a point where we're not playing for something.

With regards to his actual play:  He looked like a guy who was pumped up and hadn't seen the field in 2 years.  He had one pass that was accurate but had too much heat on it and bounced off the receivers hands, and one that was just dropped.  Not really much to go off of.

Call it rust, or say the INT was not his fault because it was deflected. But I saw weak, sidearm throws. Certainly no "it factor". Reminded me of his modest production in 14 and 15.

But I want to hear what others thought.
Sounds like a lot of judgement there.

Can't you just be happy the guy got on the field after that kind of an injury where many predicted he would never see the field again?

IT factor off 2 passes LOL.

Everyone sais Teddy didn't get much playing time. But if he wouldn't have thrown that interception maybe we would have seen him have a long drive.  Smile
Which would have been pretty awesome!!

I think Shurmur is the key to who our QB is next year.
I will also say that TD throw to Diggs today was a thing of beauty.

And what about Sloter?
He's a complete unknown. He'd benefit from Shurmur and the supporting cast, but I doubt he has enough experience or developed talent to excel. I'm not saying that Keenum is bad, just that he's around an average QB who has benefited tremendously from an ideal situation. He is making the most out of the opportunity and in the past we have not had QB friendly schemes or personnel, everything was directed towards running the offense through Peterson.
Tyr I would sugguest you read this if you already haven't. It's a very good read.

Exactly, Keenum is responsible for a LOT of the Vikings success this year.

I'm glad we were able to get him in the game. I hope we can do it again next week, and hopefully the final game will be meaningless and he can get a full game in, or at least a half.

And yet a very detailed article was posted on here a week or two ago that showed specific plays where he locked on to WRs as soon as the ball was snapped, didn't go through progressions, missed wide open guys, and can't make all the throws.

And yesterday he clearly threw about the tenth pass of the season that hit a defender and wasn't intercepted. The horseshoe is still alive and kicking, but he can't make that throw in the playoffs.

On the flip side, he's made improvement on going through his reads. That look off on the Safety before he hit Diggs with a rope for a TD was next level stuff.

But again he passed on multiple chances to take what the Defense was giving him via checkdowns in favor of holding the ball forever to make the Hero Play, which you don't want from a guy without a canon for an arm. And those plays are starting to turn into more sacks as the Line gets more and more dinged up.

It's an incredibly tricky situation. Case has some limitations that can't be fixed, but also some that can. And he's clearly shown improvement in those areas, just not consistently.

Then you have Teddy, who is more of a progresion-reading, take what the Defense gives me type of guy that may never play at a high level again but we won't know as you can't possibly sit Case for a game to find out and risk him losing his momentum.

Finally you have the Shurmer situation. In my mind the best question should be "which QB has the best chance to succeed with a new OC next year".  Cuz Pat's as good as gone.  And that's a question I don't have an answer to.
