Queen of the Divas...

I do love this song though..So sappy

Its a great Christmas song....and one that makes Mariah Carey VERY rich this time of year. It ends up being the  most downloaded song on Apple for like 5-6 weeks during Christmas. EVERY year.

Cheesy and as Melba Toast as hell, but I've been hearing this since the Nixon era...RIP Karen.

Spread the cheese, man! We all have our weaknesses. And the Carpenters is mine. I listen to everything from Miles Davis to Social Distortion, but I grew up listening to my big sister's Carpenters records. And I'm not ashamed to admit that I love those songs. I know Paul Williams wrote a lot of 'em, but Karen had a pure, effortless voice and some of those songs are just brilliant. Particularly Superstar and Goodbye to Love. The lyrics to Goodbye to Love are as deliciously dark as anything by Morrissey or Trent Reznor. And I didn't realize just how brilliant Superstar was until I heard Sonic Youth's take on it.
