This is only one scenario. I am not suggesting this IS what they will do, I'm just curious as to the feasibility of this scenario. The Browns seem like a good option, but I'm not sure if Rick would be sympathetic to Teddy. Is Teddy's feelings more important to him, or is the draft more important to the team?

Me personally, I'd sign case to a four year deal with only two meaning something, and start looking for someone to compete with Sloter to start in two to four years ( I don't care if we draft a 1st round pick and he sits for a year or two).

Just thinking out loud.

Lots of ways this can play out, I'm glad we have some time before we have to make a call. Ideally we would have had a chance to see both qb's, but even more ideally we're 10/2 and vying for homefield in the playoffs.

As an admitted "show me" fan, this issue has been a concern of mine for a while. I understand the Keenum support, and given his play and the team's record thus far, it would be silly to argue against said support.

HOWEVER, I can't change my opinion of this organization based on 12 games against 6 DECADES of fandom. My fear is that they go with Theodore, and his frail body continues to betray him at the NFL level, a big concern of mine when he was coming out of college.

Ricky can officially sway me if he gets this right. Considering the fact that he has spent 3 FIRST ROUND draft picks and 5 TOTAL draft picks between April 2011 and September 2016 on QUARTERBACKS, I don't think its unreasonable that Viking fans know who their starting QB for 2018 will be once 2018 arrives.

Case looks great, but my Viking fandom experience screams Cunningham and Mitchell. Hope I'm wrong.

Franchise Teddy? I cannot imagine that anyone with the Vikings is considering this. He has not played in 2 years and is coming off a horrific knee injury. May as well franchise Sam. And who would trade for Teddy on a franchise tag? Nobody, for the same reasons already stated. As for signing Case: makes perfect sense. Not saying it will happen, but it would make sense.

The tag for a QB is going to be pretty prohibitive...I suggested in another thread that we could sign Case to a contract similar to what Glennon got and give Teddy 1 year deal with an option that would mimic what he would have received if we had picked up his fifth year option...

Problem there is that's going to be 30+ million plus at the QB position...Brez is going to have his work cut out for him...Barr is going to be pricey (not speaking in the third person...Barr wouldn't do that...Barr thinks that's pretentious as fuck)...Diggs and Hunter need to get paid...its a good problem to have but its going to be tricky...

It is a nice problem to have. I would hate to be the one to make the decision. Case would be cheaper than Teddy and able to produce enough the way this team is built. The money saved could help us sign our players. Teddy being younger is a big consideration. Could be our Qb for 12 years.

r Qb for 12 years . Just trust they can see in practice what we cant.

I dont see how Teddy would demand more money than Case. Case has had more success right now than Teddy has. Teddy is coming back on a rebuilt knee after a worrisome freak accident.
Case’s number will be determined by how deep he takes them in the playoffs.
Teddy should be offered a mid range number plus incentives and a chance to compete for starter in TC.
Id like to see them get a deal done now.

Here's a simple truth:

if Case gets the Vikings their first Superbowl victory, he gets the contract going forward. He will have accomplished what no Vikings QB ever did with the team. In that, he'd already be worth more than any of our previous or current QBs. Teddy and especially Sam would only be worth backup money, which may not be enough to keep either.

Listening to sports radio heading to my son's basketball game. I think it was espn.

The "expert" said he thinks Cousins is the most sought after FA qb. And the next best is one of the three Viking qbs. He thinks Buffalo is interesed in Teddy.

He believes Case will be the qb going forward for the Vikes.

ESPN thinks the Vikings are the second or third best team in the NFC. Eff espn, their opinion means less than squat
