John Randle
Who from 98 or 09 would you add to this team? Or vica versa?

Put me in the Randle category, though Longwell would reduce some stress on many tickers.

I agree with either John Randle or Kevin Williams. Randle is the better pass rusher and Williams is probably the more complete player, but either way a UT who can generate pressure up the middle would be big for the D. I'm also a bit surprised that Jared Allen wasn't mentioned. Maybe not disciplined enough/good enough against the run for Zimmer's defense, but another elite pass rusher would be nice.
I know our view of Peterson has eroded over the past few years, but he was a truly special player in 2009 and as good as Murray has been, 2009 Peterson was way better. As for players a bit more under the radar, here are some to consider: 2009 Chad Greenway :: We primarily play nickel, but a 3rd good LB would be nice and I would have loved to see what a young Greenway could have done in Zimmer's defense. Jim Kleinsasser :: Dominant blocker and a better outlet receiver than he gets credit for. Morgan is good, but Kleinsasser was a beast. Visanthe Shiancoe :: How big would another good receiving TE be in this offense? Chester Taylor :: All-around back. 1998 Robert Griffith Orlando Thomas :: Not sure who you take out of Griffith or OT, but another good safety would be huge for the defense. David Palmer :: Nice role player, though his stats aren't as good as I remember him being. Jake Reed :: You'd have to take Carter first, but Reed was a better receiver than he got credit for and would be a great 3rd receiver on this team. Robert Smith :: Wouldn't take him over 2009 Peterson, but he was a very good back and wouldn't limit the offense. Dwayne Rudd :: Never lived up to his potential, but I'm curious if Zimmer could have unlocked him. As for who on our current team that I'd love to have on the 2009 or 1998 teams, Xavier Rhodes would be my top answer. He'd be a bit of a waste in the Cover 2 scheme, but adding a shutdown corner to either of those defenses would have been used. A very close second would be Harrison Smith. They had good safeties in 1998, but Smith is much better and he would be a huge upgrade over our 2009 safeties. After that I'd consider Barr, Kendricks, Joseph, or Griffen. Thielen and Diggs would be the only two offensive players I'd consider for 2009 and no one on offense would be an upgrade over 1998.

My initial thought was Big K...but Randle or K Williams would just be insane on this D...Griffith sharing the deep secondary with Smith would also be a great add...

Geez no one wants Chris Hovan?

Gary Anderson (as crappy as its to say.) We're going to need a kicker come playoff time if we're going to win.
If Moss and Favre are exluded I'm not sure why Carter and Peterson aren't as well. Past that I'd add to the OL and DLs...there are many many examples above but either Randel or McDaniel are my top choices.

Quote: @Tyr said:I thought Orlando Thomas as well. I think he would be ideal to have prowling as the deep safety. Always loved Jake Reed and he was be a major upgrade at #3 WR. Rudd was a bit of a head case. He seemed physically talented, but never got any better.
