Dogs update
#1
We had these two the last time I posted.

The blond one went to Canada with a single lady. She’s doing
great.

That left us with Sammy.

My wife had tried to drop him off for transport to Pennsylvania
in October but he freaked out and she brought him back home. We went out of
town for a week so we had him stay with another foster lady and he did really
well.

Fast forward to Thanksgiving week. Sammy is scheduled to
transport on that Friday. On Wednesday I take him to the vet so he can get
clearance for transport. I get there at 9:30 and find out the vet won’t be in
until 10:00. I had a few errands to knock out so I leave him there. I barely
get out of the parking lot when they call me and tell me that Sammy got loose
and he’s hiding under a sink and won’t let anyone near him. I go back and he
comes right out, tail wagging and happy as a clam.

I stayed with him until the vet comes and he’s given the
green light. I tell the vet that I don’t see any way possible he transports
Friday. Me and my wife talk about it. She wants to at least try and I’m like “good
luck”.

She takes him Friday. They try a few trial runs loading him
in the van and then give it a shot. He seems to be alright. She comes home. We’re
both a bundle of nerves. We really got attached to him.

My wife keeps in contact with the van driver. He keeps
reporting back that Sammy’s doing really well. They get to Pennsylvania and his
new foster family falls in love with him. They‘re sending pictures of him
getting belly rubs and treats. So, everything’s cool. Eases our mind. They’re
gonna take him to see his sister (who we fostered before him) and we’re looking
forward to hear about that.

While we had Sammy, we got this guy. He’s about 7 months old
and was just dropped off at a shelter.

He’s gonna be a GREAT dog for someone. He transported to
Vermont about 2 weeks ago. Very sweet, good-looking dog.

Last week we were told about this girl. She had been a stray
for months and they finally caught her.

We took her in last Tuesday. Scared to death of everything. She’d
let us pet her if she were laying down but would run away if we tried to
approach her.

I’d come home from work and she would hide in the bedroom
while all of our other dogs are going nuts welcoming me. I had to be real
gentle with her. It got better over the weekend. This week when I come home she’s
in the kitchen all excited, tail wagging etc. She clings to us now.

We love the needy, scared ones. Just watching them transform
into a regular dog is so rewarding. She’s a real sweetheart. They named her
Beauty. It fits.

We got this girl last night. She’s about 10 weeks old. She
just got spayed yesterday so she was pretty much out of it last night. She
slept in our bed all night. She was curled up at my back when we woke this
morning.

I’ll leave work in about an hour from now. It’ll be fun to
get home to a 10 week old puppy.

And in case anyone is wondering, all of our guys get along
great with the fosters. I think they know the drill by now. They’re not being
threatened and this dog will disappear and another comes along. Sometimes they’ll
get annoyed at the puppies because they’ll always want to play but overall they’ve
been real patient with the fosters.
