IF Case keeps playing well enough not to be removed from qb1, wins 12,13, 14 games? Goes on a deep playoff run & Bridgewater never gets more than some mop-up time? 

What does he do with Case and not just Teddy? Sign em both-up (if he can) to short-term, incentive laden contracts?

The only way I see Case staying is if he plays through the playoffs or if Teddy gets his shot and doesn't instill confidence that he is ready for a long term deal.  The ol 1 QB you have a QB,  2 QBs you have no QBs thing comes to mind.

If Case continues to play good enough to keep the job and they stay the course with going with the hot hand....you have to keep him around for next year,  but I don't see either one of them in that scenario doing a discounted deal to get into a competition when either could likely walk for more money and a better situation.

I am wondering where Sams mind is at for next year as well,  and what the team really thinks Sloters ceiling is.  If they think Sloter is for real that is QB2 right there or possibly QB3 if Sam wants to keep playing but knows he can't handle a QB1 role anymore.

We honestly have 5 QBs in the picture (potential draft pick )  depending on how things shake out the next 10 weeks or so.

With Sloter on the team I don't think you draft a QB this offseason. He is your developmental guy.

Yep that's a possibility. I am not sure Sloter is ready to be the #2 guy though. He has talent but he is raw too.

yeah we just dont know where he is at,  considering they ran with him as QB2 for about 2 months he can be to damn bad.

its to bad we couldnt get a little information on him,  but I am sure the way Zimmer likes to deal with redundant or non pertinent questions from the media... a question on QB3 right now would likely lead to a homicide at a press conference.

Well that was by default though. There was no other option once you have your original QB2 playing QB1 and your QB3 elevated. Unless they were going to try and bring in yet another QB which I don't think was realistic. 


Sloter is an interesting talent. I'd love to see more of him in camp next year to see where he is at.

I think Bridgewater will always be our #1 QB for next year, unless Keenum levels up beyond what he's done so far.  I think the overall amount you'd pay both of them combined would be similar.  Keenum would get a little more of the pie, and Bridgewater less.  You'd probably have to pay Keenum Glennon money or something.

I think right now... as much as we want to think of this roster as just reaching its potential and we are set up for a long run of success,   its perched kind of precariously.  With the instant success that Shurmur has had here,  is there really somebody in house to take his job if he leaves so we dont have to install a new offense again?  and would he take that person with him to be OC of what ever team he would end up taking the HC job with?  What QB would he try to take,  would the Vikes then be forced to franchise tag either Case or Teddy if both wanted to then test the open market or follow Shurmur out of town?  I know that losing Shurmur is far from a sure thing,  but this is the Vikings... when we have success it typically comes at a price.

I am not sure that I would offer Teddy anything like he should expect on the open market without seeing him play in at least a couple real games first. (this is not an opening for another Teddy vs Case debate)  I just think that there are to many questions surrounding his recovery and game to assume anything in terms or guaranteed long term money... which is what I am expecting his agent to be looking for, and will likely find from a team desperate for a splash signing at the most important position.

This is going to either be a really tough decision or an incredibly easy one depending how things shake out on the field and immediately following the season.

Time is obviously on Rick's side right now just like before this season and a minority wanted us to look at extending Sam, why?

The decision to wait and see worked on Sam and I have a strong feeling it will work out in the Case and Teddy scenario.

If your scenario above is what happens and we don't get but a glimpse of Teddy except in mop-up and he looks good to go then I think we already have a behind-the-scenes agreement with Teddy and his agent to do a heavy incentive laden contract with a SB in the range of what it would have cost us to do the 5th year option...one year deal or an opt-out after one year to see his recuperation.

Case would be interesting because some team will throw decent starting money at him but that team will probably suck and have drafted a top young QB.  Case might look at the Viking situation and deep playoff run and Teddy's health and think I am going to stick here for another year because he would be the starter if Teddy can't go and that could be into the future.  Bascially a calculated risk on his part to be a team he led to the playoff's.  Now I am not saying he would do that for millions less but he might do that if no other team makes a huge offer with clear starter position...maybe?

Lastly, IMO there is zero chance we don't get a pretty extensive look at Teddy before this season is over.  We have to know where he is at for next year QB decision-making.
