Going on record, Teddy starts next week

I think the statement, that you don't lose the job over an injury is just something they say. Some of the best qb's in the league got their job because the starter was injured. Favre and Brady are the first to come to mind.
That is not to say Keenum is one of the best in the league, but Bulger was having an awesome year before breaking his leg. And Warner never gave the job up.

Bulger?  That was Trent Green and it was preseason.  But you point is valid.  Brady is best example IMO.

But Brady was also replace, due to injury, in the AFCCG and Bill went back to Brady because he felt he gave them the best chance for the super bowl.

It all depends on the player and the situation. I just feel the tho old adage that a player never loses his job to injury is not true. Ask Brad Johnson.

FWIW, I'll go on record as saying I believe Teddy starts at Detroit. We go into Thanksgiving with a fresh well rested QB.
Detroit goes into Thanksgiving coming off a tough road loss to the bears with a QB that's gimpy because soldiers field sucks

i agree.   there is a reason that players are starters and back ups,  but when the back up proves to be much better than previously advertised then its time to revisit the pecking order.  Case is making a tough argument against Teddy, but IMO if Sam were healthy after what we saw week 1 vs what Case has shown it would be a no brainer... Teddy is just lacking the body of work within this system to make the same argument,  but it doesnt mean an argument cant be made for Teddy... just not the one about not losing a job due to injury.

I agree, but those situations aren't really the same.  Bridgewater is still the young upcoming QB that replaces the injured starter.  Even after being in the NFL for his fourth year, he is still one of the youngest QBs (only 2 months older than Wentz, for reference).

It's hard to not be excited about this team right now. Look at the problem we are having: We have a backup qb playing so well, we cant justify pulling him. And we have, what we all hope, is the future of the franchise waiting to get in. Where most teams hope to hell they don't have to see their backup. We actually have two starters now. Add to that, we have legitimate offensive line depth, that is no longer offensive.

Consider this. You pull Keenum for Teddy this week. Ok that's pretty insulting to the guy that got you to 6-2 (one win was Bradford's but really the Pittsburgh loss is tough to pin on the backup with little prep time) SO there's that.

Now if Teddy starts and he is NOT ready, then you are going back to the guy that you yanked on a short week? I don't think so. I think they will gameplan the offense for both defenses with some augmentation built in if needed. They won't be able to install a full game plan for Detroit anyway. Not sure how similar the two defenses are but I don't expect that they are going to be willing to test the waters with Teddy until after the the Detroit game.

If they go with Teddy and he isn't ready..... They may have tanked their own season in doing so.

Edit: Fixed my brain fart on thinking we lost to Chicago)
