Deshaun Watson - QB - Texans

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Texans fear Deshaun Watson suffered a torn ACL in Thursday's practice.

If you're in disbelief, so are we. Just stunning, awful news. Per Rapsheet, it was a non-contact injury. Watson is undergoing an MRI to confirm the news. Perhaps we'll get a miracle, but Watson can safely be considered out for Week 9, meaning Tom Savage will be under center for the Texans in what would have been a dream matchup for Watson against the Colts. It's an across the board downgrade for the Texans, with DeAndre Hopkins falling to low-end WR1 status, Will Fuller boom-or-bust WR3 and Lamar Miller RB1/2 borderline.
Nfln confirming it's torn...

While it sucks for us more with Cook, he was looking to "just" be headed to a very good running back season.  It looked like Watson was on pace to set some rookie records.  Not only that but it would appear that the Texans could drop off worse than the Packers do without Rodgers.  This has gotta be like getting kicked in the nuts twice and then having them set on fire.

That really sucks, he was becoming a pretty special player.

And I'm speculating here, but here we go with another non-contact severe knee injury, and it looks like the Texans practice on FieldTurf.  I really think this needs to be looked at a lot more than it currently is.  Having star players lost for the year continuously from these types of injuries is hurting the NFL right now as much as anything else IMO.

I was at the Vikings - Ravens game a week and a half ago, and they interviewed Matt Birk on the field at halftime.  Interestingly, one of the things he wished for during the interview was to never have another NFL game played on artificial turf again.  I thought that was pretty interesting, especially since he said it in the Vikings new stadium right in front of the Wilfs.
