Yes sir. A huge fan of the original (top 10 film for me). Really liked this one. No clue why it flopped.

I ordered opening night tix, and there were maybe 15  people (max) in the theater.

It was odd for an opening night...

Love the original and love this new one too. I saw it on Wednesday night and my theater was pretty full. Everyone there seemed to really like it.

I'm so happy they stayed true to the tone of the original and didn't "modernize" it by making it a big, dumb action movie. They also kept certain things ambiguous which I appreciated.

If anyone likes the first one- you'll like this one. If you don't- you won't. And sometimes that's how a sequel should be!

I have not seen 2049 yet, hope to this week, especially hearing it is well-liked by devotees of the original.

In 1982, a theater near my (parents') home had a special preview screening of a near-release film doubled up with something already out, so my wife (GF at the time) and I saw Blade Runner with Road Warrior, back to back. What a mind-blowing pair and both movies among my lifetime favorites.

When I saw the sequel was being made, my reaction was, "Awesome! Oh damn, they will probably ruin it." That's how I felt about the recent reboot/whatever of Mad Max: the original was an action film, sure, but tinged with a sad view of the apocalypse; Fury Road was a turd full of flamethrowing guitars and limitless bullets, a videogame on the movie screen.

I remember watching 'Nightmare on Elm Street' back in 1984 at a Drive In Theater in Escanaba, Michigan....double dating with a friend. It blew my mind the premise. Very scary. New territory.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it was so overrated (holds a 97% on RT for example).  I thought it had a few cool action pieces, but that gets old and it's not worth a second watch for me.  Other than a minute hear and there I haven't watched it again either.  I remember leaving the theater thinking about how dumb the storyline was; a long vehicle chase out and back with nothing interesting behind it.

I've been contemplating seeing Blade Runner 2049 but it's likely I'll wait until it's on blu-ray.  I've been underwhelmed with the last few movies I've gone to see.  It's been a pretty blah year for blockbusters.

Having just seen 2049, I liked it...and it really seemed to open the door for a story-closing 3rd movie.  Just sayin'.

Isn't it getting hard to talk yourself into going to a theater? Even though many have recliners, if I watch at home I have my own recliner, 60" screen, any snack I want, a remote to pause or rewind... They have to create urgency to get me to a theater, and the delay to release at home is getting shorter all the time. Are theaters surviving only on people needing somewhere for dating?

I can say that my usual theater (which is the only one within thirty miles) is nowhere near as busy as it was 10-15 years ago.  We used to have to go super early for the big movies, stand in line and still occasionally hit a sellout.  That hasn't happened in years.  It was sold earlier this year and the new company replaced all the old, crap chairs with those powered recliners and refreshed everything.  There are fewer seats of course due to their size and spacing but they also have more showings per day.  It's actually pretty nice when I do go, but I only go to movies that I just can't wait to see.  There haven't been any the last few months like that.

I still like the movie experience, especially at places like IPic.....but my issue is finding a movie in the last 2 years to get excited about.
