I never saw this offensive line coming. Crazy good.
Berger is still a weak link. we are getting no consistent push on that side and he isnt anchoring in pass pro very well either. I think that they need to look at Isidora in short yardage situations at a minimum to try and get some more out of that right side. I hate to mess with the OL, but Joe is at the end of the road and its really showing.
its hard to be critical after a win... especially after a win over the hated fuckers from sconnie, but I am kind of disappointed in how the offense looked in the win. Their defense was absolute shit and we really failed most of the game to put them away. The morale on that sideline was in the shitter all day, but they were actually in the game until the end as our offense crawled into a hole everytime we got a 2 score lead. This should have been a laugher and instead it was a game to the end. I know that Case would likely win governor of Minny if an election was held tomorrow, but he really isnt doing much good out there. his passes are erratic at best, has no consistent touch on the ball, weak arm, and it appears that everytime he saw 7 or more in the box he was checking to run. ( unless they were calling nothing but runs to chew the clock in which case lets beat up shurmur a bit as well)
I dont like playing not to lose, that is like a prevent defense, it will fail you when you need it the most. lets see some convincing wins when the opportunity presents itself. lets put some fear in opposing defenses. for shit sake, i want to see some swagger from the offensive side of the ball.
if Teddy gets good news tomorrow, and assuming Sam is not coming back real soon, I think we have to look at getting Teddy ready for week 10 coming out of the bye week. we have a tough second half of the season and unless Case can find whatever game he had against Tampa and repeat it often, there is no way he is going to take this team anywhere and we cant always rely on the other teams defense to be in a mash unit and the opposing offense not to put up any fight.
(lets hear the boos...)
All great points. I agree with you that Case was erratic and inconsistent today. The turnovers were huge since we were already in scoring position and both of them led to 10 points for the Packers. Our first down runs for a loss up the middle, especially with Murray, really put this offense on it's heels. We will need to do better. After Rodgers was knocked out of the game, there was a letdown on both sides of the ball and we did seem to adopt the "play not to lose" mentality. Despite the "Thin Skinned" Zimmer supporters on this site, it's perfectly acceptable to have some constructive criticism. When the Vikings watch film tomorrow, that's exactly what they will do to themselves as they work on getting better and correcting mistakes.
Along the OP theme of griping: I just really hope your final line is what happens. The core of my own gripes about Zimmer of late have been that the team too often seemed unprepared or too immature to maintain consistent play. I don't know if they sometimes rested on their laurels or felt sorry for their misfortunes, but the 3-8 finish was not ALL explained by injuries. Last year's losses to the Bears and Colts were easily winnable games when the Vikings were flat and did not perform. Win those two and even one against the Lions and they finish 11-5. This season has had similar up-and-down with some pathetically lame performances (Lions game, first half against Bears), and if you weren't screaming at them during those games, you're lying.
But coaches can improve and now Zimmer finally has a 2-game winning streak again. I truly hope they are not patting themselves on the back and will capitalize on the next two games without a letdown. Earlier this season I declared Zimmer was an "average" coach: prove me wrong, Mr. Zimmer! Every Vikings game is a science experiment; what kind of scientist would I be if I was unwilling to admit a hypothesis had been disproved?

NJVike you haven't held back your opinion after losses though. And don't let me tell you to not participate. You have your thoughts on the team. It's valid to speak them, but people are going to respond in kind.
Actually, my sporadic posts have been equally distributed throughout the season, but, whatever.
Not sure why you're telling me that people will respond in kind....I no longer comment about the numerous d-bags that insult me in posts that I am not participating in at the time, such as this one. My initial comments are always directed at the Vikings performance and the front office (you know, the DECISION MAKERS). Its never about a particular poster or group of posters.....until THEY make it personal.
I've accepted the fact that this board is a clique that wants to pretend the Vikings are the greatest franchise in sports, despite glaring facts showing otherwise, and its easy to gang up on someone who critiques a regime that is sub .500 for 12 seasons and has 1 playoff win during that span. Could not care less about anyone's opinion of me or my thoughts on the Vikings front office.
As I said, great win today, hope they keep it going. But I will reserve my final commentary on the 2017 season until the Vikings 2017 season is completed.
Not sure why the "SHOW ME" approach irritates fans on this board soooooo much. I would think that the incredible streak of mediocrity would be more upsetting, but to each his own.
But, hey, don't let me interfere with the prognostications of a home Super Bowl victory. Have at it.....Lord knows Viking fans have had little to cheer about the past decade. I just prefer to celebrate ACTUAL playoff success, not the "woulda, shoulda, coulda" variety that has been bandied about here ad nauseum.
Wishing all a good night.
Peace.
We are fans of a team that spend an inordinate amount of time on a website discussing the team. Fans. Fanatics. It's what we do.
On the way TO the playoffs the team needs to be cheered on no? I don't believe that fans should sit on their hands and remain quiet until they win in the playoffs. That seems absurd. After beating your rival with backups at many key positions (QB, RB, WR, S, G) I'd say celebrating that accomplishment is completely appropriate. And there are those that have made that possible. Unless you think it was just dumb luck, but I don't believe that is the case. This wasn't a case where a few plays went our way and we happened to win. We had to overcome our own adversity in this game from turnovers to injuries and the coaching staff guided them through that and the front office had the pieces in place in order for that to happen. You say that you are waiting for the team to SHOW YOU well like I said along the way to getting to the playoffs and winning you have to win some games. As fans we celebrate the small victories along the way and suffer when we lose. Asking fanatics to be emotionless is a bit absurd. Did you watch the game without any emotion? When they score do you say to yourself "Yah but this isn't the playoffs"?
I have yet to see any super bowl championship prognostications so either you are reading something different from me or you are making up hyperbole to support an argument that nobody else is having? You refer to douchebags but talk about THEM making it personal. And if this board is a clique of likeminded lemmings you'll have to excuse me as I call complete and total bullshit on that charge. If there's one thing this place is not is a homogenized group think. Unless of course you count us all wanting the team to win week to week. Instead of just holding out for a playoff berth before acting like fans.

I don't think people are giving enough credit to GB's DL. Granted their D as a whole isn't top notch, its got some good pieces none the less. I'd take Kenny Clark in a heart-beat to pair with Linval.
And Mike Daniels is one of the best in the league. Didn't hear his name much on Sunday.

Lol...you're a trip NJ...but hold fast to the notion that our GM operates in a vacuum and unilaterally calls all the shots...
LOL!!! Right here is where you contradict yourself.
On the one hand, Ricky can't be blamed for ANY personnel moves prior to his coronation to GM, because "others" had input into the decisions.
NOW, you are alluding to the fact that others are STILL involved, therefore any bad RESULTS are STILL not his responsibility! WOW!
That is THE best job on the WORLD. Heads I win, tails you lose.
AGAIN, why don't we table this analysis of the 2017 season until it plays out, hookay? I seem to recall some really obnoxious, condescending, arrogant posts @ 12 months ago when the Vikings were 5-0.....how'd that work out? The glee about an opposing players injury is kinda sad, but thats just my opinion. I prefer to celebrate ACTUAL victories, not fictional ones.
I'm also well aware of the teamwork involved in corporations, I've worked for/with several fortune 500 companies. But the buck ALWAYS stops with the CEO//PRESIDENT/VP OF PERSONNEL even though everybody KNOWS that input was given by other parties/departments.
In professional sports WINS and CHAMPIONSHIPS are the only thing that matters in the long run. I just hope that all of this juvenile, premature exultation won't look ridiculous in a few months, just as it has the past 4 decades. But I can appreciate that most of you have issues with premature, um, well, I'm sure you know.
Peace.
