I think it was very unfortunate, and he did lead with his helmet, so yes. However, I don't think it was meant to be "dirty" nor was he headhunting. It was just a bad set of circumstances that ended up making it look way worse than Trevathan intended.

If its his first offense (not sure if he has had others or not) he may get a slap on the wrist-fine. it was pretty brutal though. intentional or not. my question is, if he does get a suspension and then appeals, how long will the process take?

Although correctly a penalty, i dont think there was intent.

whats ironic about all this, didnt Dix about take the head off a bears receiver early in the game? nobody is talking about that hit that I am hearing.
( although I am not listening much to sports talk today)

Quote: @JimmyinSD said:Well Dix is a Packer so there is that. I am hearing all kinds of talk about Trevathan. It was a hit against a Packer so it is being replayed like crazy. I didn't watch the game so I will have to watch the Dix hit.

It is football with huge men running at each other. Hits are going to happen.
Adams was struggling for more yards while wrapped up. If you want to be protected, go down. As to the intent and was it dirty? Really don't think so. Adams was wrapped up and trying to break the tackle. So Trevathan has to help bring him down. But right as he got there, Adams started to go down and that put his head right in the hit zone. Hard to say a bang bang play like that is dirty.

the biggest issue the league will have is he lead with the crown of the helmet. This is not debatable and against the rules. suspension or just a fine-not sure. Intent doesnt matter

I didn't see it as particularly dirty, I think seeing his mouthguard flying like that might have made some people cringe. It's a problem for football. It's a violent, brutal sport that they want to make safer. It's a contradiction that will keep being an issue.

I wondered after the hit if maybe there was some intent to put a good hit in Adams. I don't mean a dirty hit but just a chance to drill him. The impression I get from Adams is that he is not dirty but is overly aggressive to get under defenders skin. He is always scrapping with somebody. Like the Seahawks game when he pulled the defender down by the face mask. Maybe Im way off base but I wonder what players around the league think of him and maybe this was just supposed to be a get even hit that turned into what it did.
