And stating these facts makes me a hater?

That kind of logic makes you a mindless, lemming.
you must lead one pathetic existence to be so consumed by one thing that you simply cant find anything else to talk about.  how horrible it must be to be you.

and no, stating that you are a hater based on your inability to ever post anything but derogatory comments directed at 1 individual doesnt make me mindless or a lemming...mindless are your negative ass narrow focused contributions to this site.  damn near everybody that posts here has called you out on it, but yet you mindlessly continue.

LOL!! Hey, I'm not the one who started with the personal insults, Slappy!

If you're capable, why not actually READ my post. I didn't attack or slander anyone, just brought to light the incredible amount of draft equity that has been used on this position with little to no positive, impactful results as of yet. I notice you chose to just attack me personally than attempt to dispute the facts. Pretty telling behavior

But you keep on responding to my factual statements with your childish venom....can't really blame you. If I had to live in SD, I'd need to vent at everybody with a differing opinion, too!!

Have a great weekend, Slappy!
thank you I will,  I will be spending it with Viking fans that know the game and arent so bitter about their own lives that they are consumed with repeatedly anonymously  attacking somebody that wont ever defend themselves on the internet.

as far as personal insults... you asked a question,  I answered.  If you actually knew anybody from South Dakota you would know that we are honest,  sometimes brutally so,  so if you cant handle the truth,  better not ask the question.  your personal vendetta against Speilman defies sanity,  your childish name calling and attempted insults are really quite embarrassing for a guy that claims to be educated.

have a great weekend, or as good of one as you can while sitting and stewing in your vile fandom.

....Between April of 2011 and September of 2016, Schpielman has used THREE FIRST ROUND draft picks (and a grand total of 5 draft picks) on Quarterbacks, and on 9/24/2017, the starter/backup combo for the Vikings is Keenum/Sloter?? Meanwhile, regarding the three 1st rounders : 1 is out of the NFL, 1 is still rehabbing from a potentially career ending injury (non-contact) and the last is seeking a 2nd opinion from a specialist regarding a mysterious non-contact injury to his twice-surgically-repaired knee?
Do I have my facts straight, or am I just being a "hater"?
i dont see a problem stipulating, but i really dont see a point to it. Ponder was a bust. it happens once or more to nearly every GM.

Spielman is not a God or anything but he appears to be better than average, possibly one of the better GM's.  can you bring any convincing, objective data to the contrary?
Sure....his actual RECORD as VP/GM

Miami 2002-2004 (SR VP of Player Personnel/GM)
Regular season : 23-25
Playoffs : NONE

Minnesota 2006-Current, 11 full seasons (VP of Player Personnel/GM)
Regular season : 86-89-1
Playoffs : 1*-4 (asterisk on lone Favre-led playoff win. Favre was brought/recruited to Vikings by Childress and the Wilf's (checkbook)

That's a combined regular season record (over 14 seasons) of 109-114-1, not to mention the abysmal 1*-4 playoff record, for HIS TEAMS.

If you consider those RESULTS better than average and possibly being one of the better GM's in the league, then you and I have DRASTICALLY different definitions of the terms "better than average" and "one of the better GM's in the league"

I would be more concerned about why your QB's are having mysterious knee injuries.  Perhaps your organization is doing something wrong?
This is starting to strike me. Sugarman is widely lauded, often by the same people who claim we suffer more injuries than any other team in the league. It doesn't fit. Trainers can't prevent all injuries, but they may influence if a player recovers successfully, and might be allowing activities that are bad choices. Why is Sugarman considered so highly?

Bradford's knee injuries predate his time with the Vikings, but someday someone might ask why Bridgewater was even in a non-contact drill if his knee was hurt in his last preseason game. Especially if it turns out to have been his last game ever.

Those are the facts. What's your point, that he didn't make the right choice at QB, as evidenced by 1 bust and a freak non-contact injury? That would also be fact. Apparently, the only good GM's are clairvoyant? As mentioned earlier, my problem with Rick is his negligence in addressing the offensive line for so long, and trying to build it on the cheap. I also, didn't like jumping back into the 1st round for some of the picks we got. (Waynes, Treadwell)...

As for what we have with Sam, given what happened with Teddy, what would you have done jerseyboy? Who else was available that gave us a chance to win that wouldn't have cost us more than a 1st round pick?  I'd say he did the absolutely best thing he could have done given the dire situation we were in.

JimmyinSD, I enjoy a lot of your comments, and yes, NJ does pursue his opposition to Spielman very persistently and it can sometimes seem excessive. But a couple of your comments surprised me...

1. You made a really broad generalization about people from SD, that you are ALL honest. That's pretty bold - I have never been to any state where you could accurately say ALL residents share ANY quality! In fact, I have an aunt in Mitchell who is not flawlessly honest, I'm afraid. You are no doubt very honest, but you do not need to hail from a universally-honest state to be that way.

2. Is it certain that just because NJVike is single-minded in his attacks on Spielman - on this board! - that he is living a miserable, vile-filled life? Come on, I get kinda worked up on these forums sometimes, but 10 minutes later I am not thinking about it at all. This is just one little hobby within most of our lives.

I mean no offense, just that it's not worth getting too mad about.

hey,  he asked a question, i gave him an honest answer,  he didnt like my response so he attacked,  i responded in kind.  basically what i meant by brutally honest is we dont tend to sugar coat stuff very often.   i think nj is a hater,  plain and simple,  his relentless attacks on spielman and not letting any opportunity to take a shot at him shows just how blinded he is by this.  that IMO is the definition of hater.

I am not over the moon for Spielman,  but I am not going to sit back and pretend that I could do his job or am even qualified with the knowledge that I have to repeatedly critique his performance.  let alone use cherry picked and tortured stats to defame him publicly in a manner that he would not be able as a professional to respond.

and Im not mad,  i just am voicing my opinion on his tiring tirade.  ( maybe with a bit of venom,  but I usually dont take it there,  i just respond.)

EDIT:  and no offense taken. Smile

My point was illustrating to Viking fans just how much draft equity Saint Richard has, thus far, pissed away on the QB position in just a little over 5 years. I also posted above Spielman's ACTUAL  W-L record as VP and/or GM. Nothing irritates a Rickophant more than seeing his actual accomplishments (or, more accurately, his stunning LACK of accomplishments) in print, just the FACTS without all the usual EXCUSES. But, hey, keep on focusing on individual draft picks, trades, signings, etc. As Zimmer himself says : "Don't tell me about he labor, show me the baby".

Regarding "jerseyboy"? I was actually born and raised in the Bronx, and lived all over NYC. I opted for njvike when joining PT back in 1999 or 2000, when I happened to be living in NJ at the time. For the past 13 years, I've been in the Charlotte, NC area. Maybe I should update my nom du plume so you can childishly ridicule me personally with the proper state?

Lastly, the ever popular "what would YOU have done" ridiculous "comeback".... Well a smartass question like that deserves an equally smartass reply. Even with my complete lack of scouting and front office experience, and having never played football above the pee-wee level, I can guarantee with 100% certainty this fact : Had I been in Ricky's position(s) since 2006, the absolute WORST I would have done would be just 1 less playoff victory these past 11 seasons than he has posted. I don't think that's too bad, considering his vast experience and reputation as one of the best GM's in the NFL, don't you think?

For all the shit over Keenum, by my scorecard, its the first year we have had a real backup in a long time.

Webb? When his time came, he ended up switching positions a game later.

Cassel? When his time came, we signed Josh Freeman, off the street, to start over him.

Shaun Hill? When his time came, we traded for Bradford...

Its practically a miracle Keenum is an option...
