Wow, what a night, a rookie breaking records in his first NFL game and giving his team a spark in all three aspects of RB play!!

Oh...wait...that was Dalvin Cook??? Kamara only gained 18 yards (2.6ypc)? But Jon Gruden - in the 4th quarter! - was putting up pictures of one of those backs, and raving about his great future, and comparing him favorably to Reggie Bush, Darren Sproles, and even HOFer Marshall Falk! Was he watching the same game as the rest of us??? Because on my screen, it sure sure looked like Cook was the big story and Kamara was just another guy.

They had to use the work done by the graphics team apparently. Because there was no reason for that to be shown based on production of the night.

I was thinking the same thing. Why are they gushing over this young kid so much? I'm sure he'll have better games, but really he did nothing last night.

My theory is that Gruden has dinner with whichever head coach in the game he knows best (or will pay for his meal), listens to whatever propaganda the coach pitches, and that is the entirety of his "pre-game research". That's why, other than the Kamara fawning, all we heard was how the Saints defense was new and improved, and they have had the best offense in the NFL for a decade (useful to put out ahead of Payton's hunt for a new job as an OC in a year or two) - but no mention that NO has been 7-9 for three years.

BTW - did I dream this, or did Gruden say: "They even have a route for Kamara! I've never heard of a running back route." I must have misunderstood?

He did say that. He stated he was that dynamic they even have routes for him

I thought he said said that they have routes for him lined up as a wide receiver - not as a running back.

Maybe that was it, though I didn't hear the "as a WR" bit. Regardless, is that so rare or amazing? I'm pretty sure McKinnon lines up wide sometimes, Cook could, and plenty of other RBs have been excellent receivers who lined up all over and certainly ran routes.

Gruden is a dingleberry. I know everyone has their favorite and no so much favorite announcers, but how does that guy have a job? Did he coach that way too? Did he look at film of the college guys and tell everyone who the football players were and who were the cheerleaders? And btw, what the heck is a grinder?
