The Vikings running back agreed to a revised contract to play for the team in 2026 that lowers his base salary from $9 million to $5.5 million, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday.
It was a possibility Jones, 31, had played his last down in purple and was on his way out, but the two sides instead came to a compromise to spend a third year together.
Jones has run for 1,686 yards and seven touchdowns, with another 607 yards and three scores receiving, for the Vikings since 2024.

I like the move. Great team guy and the price is reasonable and its short term. Makes a ton of sense. I suspect they still add an RB in draft in later rounds.

I think the Vikings like both guys, at least well enough. Sounds like they made an attempt for Etienne however. A RB is coming in the Draft and it could come any round, really.....maybe more than one RB.
Meh...indifferent. I thought he might end up coming back, except I thought it would be late in the cycle after the draft if we missed on a RB. This should not AT ALL change our draft plans.

Given who is still available as a FA, and the liklihood of either Notre Dame falling to us (slim, fat, none), I think this is a prudent move. He wasn't worth $9mm at age 31. But at almost half that...yeah that can work.
