The #Vikings are signing CB James Pierre, source confirms @CameronWolfe. Has been with the Steelers since 2020. Familiarity with Brian Flores. He's 29 years old, was highly effective last year in coverage.

Should also note: Crossover here with new Vikings DBs coach Gerald Alexander. So, really good intel for the Vikings. Depth with Byron Murphy Jr. and Isaiah Rodgers.

Apparently, he was popular....8 or 9 teams were interested.

Pierre is 29, 6-2, 185. Flores loves him some skinny CBs. Really high PFF coverage grades last year. Has some of the same characteristics of the Rodgers signing last year.

the fact the steelers wanted him back and the niners were interested also suggests that this is more of a get than just a name to fill out a roster move.

reports say 2 years 8.5 million
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

Pierre also played for Vikings new defensive backs coach Gerald Alexander, who left the Steelers to join the Vikings after the Vikings lost Daronte Jones to the Commanders.

Check Fabian Moreau as well.

Vikings just need to keep finding underrated football players like Pierre and avoid the flash this off-season. Get our cap right, draft well, and bring in a good backup to push JJ McCarthy.

That's really the deal as I see it as well. I think the biggest splash they were going to make was Etienne, but he wanted to go to Louisiana so there probably wasn't a real shot.

I’m not gonna pretend to know a ton about the player but 90% of Steeler fans seem mad the team didn’t beat the Vikes offer to keep him. So I’m taking that as a great sign.

We need DBs, he’s improved as a player over his time in PIT, and he’s familiar with our coaches. I think I might love this signing.

I dont think they're hurting much anymore cap wise?

I have no idea what they'll do at QB, I'm not convinced it's Murray (even with all the smoke.)

I'm not sure front office/ownership has stomach for flashy after last year. The biggest splash may come from a trade vs FA signing.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
