The 'week before the start of free agency' rumor/transaction thread
#61
Yeah, if Bradbury had such a great year in NE, then why did they move him? He is what he is: a very mobile but smallish center. I don't miss him in Minnesota at all.

A healthy Darrisaw - Jackson - new center - Fries - O'Neill is going to be a pretty decent line IMO. Everyone will benefit from Jackson and Fries having a year of this under their belts in Minnesota. Curious to see what they do at center.

p.s. I see it looks like RB Breece Hall is going to resign with the Jets.

Los Angeles did not disclose financial details of the contract, but a source told ESPN the deal is for three years and $30 million.

Biadasz will replace Bradley Bozeman, the Chargers' starting center for the past two seasons. Bozeman retired in February.

In Biadasz, the Chargers add a player to an interior offensive line that could look completely different next season. In addition to Bozeman's retirement, left guard Zion Johnson is set to be a free agent and fetch a lucrative deal on the market. Los Angeles released right guard Mekhi Becton earlier this week.

Biadasz graded higher than Bozeman in both pass block win rate and run block win rate last season. Bozeman ranked 30th in PBWR, while Biadasz finished 15th. In RBWR, Bozeman ranked 18th compared with Biadasz at 16th.

Biadasz, 28, started 31 games the past two seasons for Washington, but the team opted to release him in late February in a cost-cutting move.

He had signed a three-year deal with $20.7 million guaranteed two years ago as part of general manager Adam Peters' first free agent class in Washington.

The Dallas Cowboys selected Biadasz in the fourth round of the 2020 draft, and he started all 49 games he played in for the team. He made his lone Pro Bowl in the 2022 season.

NFL Network first reported details of Biadasz's contract with the Chargers.

The Packers and Colts swapped a pair of defenders.

Green Bay is trading defensive tackle Colby Wooden to Indianapolis in exchange for linebacker Zaire Franklin, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Saturday.

Rapoport added that the status of pass rusher Rashan Gary, who on Friday posted and then deleted a goodbye to Green Bay on social media, remains unchanged.

The NFL’s legal tampering period begins on Monday, March 9 at noon ET. This is when agents can enter contract negotiations, on behalf of their clients, with prospective teams. The new league year starts March 11.

Released players can also meet with teams and sign a new deal (before the legal tampering period begins) since they are not under contract with their former team.

In some cases, teams can also give players permission to seek a new deal before the tampering period.

Ok it's silly season. So remember before you read this, it's silly season.

Did I mention silly season?

I wouldn't post this if it wasn't... silly season.

Guy on Reddit claims Kyler is house shopping in the Twin Cities.

Ok back to silly season normalcy now.

Can confirm. Kyler bought a house in Minnetonka. He'll be living in a gorgeous bungalo on a table next to the window in the upstairs bedroom he'll share with the Gustafsons' teenage daughter, Sigrid.

I'm surprised there aren't more rumors heading into Sunday. Pretty tame.

At the risk of beating a dead horse ... but it took me a while to find the answer.

The difference between Jones, Hargrave and Biadasz is that the Commanders immediately released Biadasz, allowing him to seek a new team and contract immediately. Jones and Hargrave were told they would be released at the start of the new league year, giving the Vikings more time to try and find a trade partner. The Commanders did Biadasz a favor by allowing him to beat other centers to the free agent market. It's possible that the Commanders tried to trade Biadasz but found no trade partners so they just released him. If the Commanders didn't shop him, maybe they may have made a mistake.
