I kinda trust Sam's perspective too...More than most on X

He's got no reason to be blowing smoke up anyones asz right now...

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Wouldn't know.  The presser quote is everywhere and to most it looks like JJM on the bench in 26.  Do he and his agent like that?  Other teams will start lowballing the Vikings with offers.  They look fleecable with no real g.m. in place.

I don't think they should quit on him after 10 starts but it's not my job on the line, it's new defacto general manager KOC who's sitting on a hot seat IMHO Wink. Like I said before, self-preservation is mankind's strongest instinct.

I think he's just being honest, this has to be the year for better QB play either with JJ or someone new. I don't think it means anything more than that...other than I'm sure he'll light a mini-fire under JJ to step up. No problem with that. I guess you can read into it whatever you like because of course KOC loves this CoachSpeak so who knows exactly what it means, lol.

Sadly, this scenario isn't very farfetched.

I don't just speak jive, I can also translate KOC.

"A lot of those feelings are still the same. It's just the timeline is in a different place for all of us than it was [in 2024]."

I think the key phrase here is "all of us." In other words...."in 2024, when we drafted JJ, Kwesi and I just wrapped up our 2nd season at the helm of this team. We had a franchise QB we could be patient with and the future was bright and full of windows. Fast forward two years. Our franchise QB has started 10 of 34 possible games, the bridge we brought in for JJ just won the Super Bowl elsewhere, and ownership fired our GM. Lucky for us, our all-world receiver who struggled with 2 (TWO!!) TDs on the season has the patience of Job. But we're not about to test it again."

#Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell discusses JJ McCarthy’s offseason, noting he’s currently in California working with several coaches he’s known since before the draft:

“He knows this is a big offseason for him.”
