Flores Watch
#1
I've seen a couple of these now and have yet to see Brian Flores's name on any of them. Not that he won't get an offer or at least an interview, but his name doesn't seem to get mentioned very much.

-------------------

The Tennessee Titans announced Friday that general manager Mike Borgonzi will lead the team's search for a new head coach and manage the 53-man roster.

Meanwhile, Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker will remain in his current role and oversee the team's salary cap, research and development, and analytics.

ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Tennessee is set to conduct a coaching search that includes candidates such as former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh and Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula.

The Titans were reportedly interested in Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman as well, although Freeman ultimately announced that he would be returning to the Fighting Irish in 2026.

Brian Callahan served as Tennessee's head coach to open the 2025 season, but was fired and replaced by interim coach Mike McCoy following the team's 1-5 start.

The Titans sit at just 3-13 this year after wrapping up a 3-14 finish last season, experiencing issues on both sides of the ball. Tennessee ranks No. 30 in scoring offense and No. 28 in scoring defense among all teams in 2025.

Black Balled is a real term. I think those lawsuits are no joke with the owners.

Why would a team want to hire a guy who is essentially suing them as his lawsuit would include every NFL owner and team. Not to mention his lawsuit is completely frivolous and several of his claims have already been found to have no merit in NFL investigations. In addition, he is a very overrated DC whose schemes are not as innovative and unique as some make them up to be. Would love to see him go, but highly doubt anyone is going to want him.

I’m genuinely curious how you think our pass defense could possibly rank 3rd in the NFL, and then set a mark over 6 games that hadn’t been achieved in 37 years, despite having no Pro Bowlers on defense and an offense that could not AT ALL sustain drives, giving up 18 sacks and committing 12 turnovers over those 6 games. Magic? Did we just play crappy offenses? Well, two were middle of the pack, but the other 4 teams have passing offenses that currently rank 1st, 8th, 10th and 11th in the NFL.

I’m just curious what you attribute that to if not Flores.

I am not sure how accurate this is but if the Vikings were to miss out on two third round picks, I think that would suck.

If this is true about Flores technically not being Vikings after January 13th, and he gets selected as a head coach elsewhere, could the Vikings potentially lose out on two 3rd round comp picks?

From a Vikings standpoint, why wouldn't the contract have been written out to expire sometime after the Super Bowl? I mean I know nothing about contracts, but if this was something that could have been done, why wouldn't it have been done? If it was an oversight and got botched, then I shouldn't be surprised. F-them picks!  Could it have been Flores' camp that requested it be expire early?

It's just the Viking way.  Remember the confusion when Kevin Williams was drafted and they didn't get the pick in on time, two teams jumped ahead of them.  Always something that makes you wonder just what the hell is going on in Viking land.

Then the following year the same thing happened with drafting McKinney.

I learned then the wilfs were gonna be slow learners.

20 years later  I think that's true. Community and business side they've done extraordinarily well. Football side hasn't gotten to where I'd hoped they'd be.
