The most Viking thing would be...Flores walks, the defense regresses to the Donashell status, just as McCarthy stays healthy and throws for 4000 yards. Since next year is an even year, Vikings go 11-6, make the playoffs with high hopes and then proceed to not be able to stop anything and lose in the first round 38-31.....to a 10-7 Atlanta Falcons team....

Unless the Vikings are able to backfill B-Flo, I think losing him would have a ripple effect. I think we'd have to bring in a true nose tackle (like most 3-4s). I think we'd need some better corners too. And Josh Metellus would be just a guy.

Daronte Jones is a name I've heard if BFlo leaves....
Same system guy who's learned from the master

Good idea. Jones actually interviewed for a couple DC jobs last year. Considering he coordinated Flores's pass defense the last three years, maybe it wouldn't be the end of the world if Flores left, assuming he keeps the same system. One more thing, if Flores gets a HC job, Vikings get another 3rd rounder in the upcoming draft and another the following year.

Just because he would run the same system doesn't mean he would have the same results. One think I noticed about Zimmer and now Flores, they are always a step ahead. They are innovators on the defensive side of the ball. Each season is a new season and they have their adjustments, wrinkles, outright changes that keeps them ahead. This year it was having Harrison calling audibles on the field.

Agreed Tony Dungy was also an innovator

Could not agree more at the bold. Remember how Ed Donatell was going to run a defense similar to Vic Fangio since they had coached together for a long time?

KOC sounded pretty positive about Minnesota's chances to resign Flores at his presser yesterday....take that with a grain.

Yah, no guarantees...
Unless something really funky is going on behind the scenes, or he gets a hc offer, my $$ is on his return to MN.
Someone mentioned BFlo and the Raiduhs - that would seem like a great fit tbh. Big glitch being I'm not sure they want to raise their family in sin city
