The performance the last two weeks have been encouraging. After such a poor start encouraging to see him rebound and play so much better. A lot of great decisions and throws last night, looked like what we have been hoping for. I would like to see him continue to work on the throwing mechanics, a few to Jefferson that sailed and another tipped pass, would like to see a pump fake from him. Loved what I saw from him last night, but I did not like the dance before he got into the end zone or his response to why he did it. Run into the end zone first, was surprised he would do that or respond like that.

All Chris Collinsworth did was praise Dallas and Dax Prescott for three quarters...He basically didn't say anything good about Minnesota until the fourth quarter when it was apparent who was going to win.
Collinsworth raved about Dax's command presence running the Dallas offense and the about the number one passing offense. Reality is JJ outperformed Dax in that area.

It really is the most Viking thing ever to play like total shit all year long, then once they are eliminated and out of the playoffs, to start playing competent football and rack up some wins lol. I'm happy for McCarthy going from not being able to complete a pass to looking like Tommy Kramer the last couple weeks and giving us all a little hope. Unfortunately I think these wins keep everyone in place for next season including the Kwesi/Grigson duo. Buckle up for an interesting offseason

I have no idea what the ceiling is for JJM. But the Maye improvement from yr1 to yr2 is a north star for me the fan.
McCarthy came into the league much greener then I thought he would be passing the ball. I was expecting a floor of Bridgewater, but I think McCarthy was lower. That said, I think JJM ceiling is much higher as are his intangibles.
KOC/McKown didnt help things messing with his mechanics (PLUS) I dont think they were running a progression offense out of the chute with him either.
Then throw into the mix he lost Kelly for most of the season so the kid had to make line calls too. No wonder he looked like s hit.
And yes, his mechanics have to improve (a lot) and I look to J.Allen as an example of how they bettered itself over the seasons. No need to rush it year 1.
Looking ahead to 2026, I wonder what the Vikings are really going to be looking for the next 3 weeks when it comes to where JJM will be on their QB pecking order next season? How much will it weigh in their decision making? How much is that bed already made?
I am relieved he's showing progress, he also has a long ways to go. How quickly do the Vikings want to win? Can he get them there in 2026??? Or will it be an expensive vet starter or a clear back-up vet with JJM firmly as Qb1?

What helped Maye progress more than anything was a change in coaching staff, drafting well, solidifying their offensive line, and spending the most money in free agency to upgrade the roster talent. That roster was anysmal last year. Their first four draft picks were all spent on the offense and those players have hit.

....and probably the easiest schedule in the NFL.

It ended up being too much and I am glad they realized it and course corrected. I am guessing this is what was simplified.
It seems the plan now is just getting him experience, confidence and game reps and deal with the mechanics later.
JJ has what many QBs lack: processing speed, grit, clutch and moxie. Add these to his raw physical traits and we have something to be excited about especially when reminded he is only 22.
The season is sure lost but I think the learnings here set us up for the future.
Very good game yesterday all around. That defense came to play. Made Dak look ordinary and he was outplayed by JJ.
I really wished Jefferson had a TD. I really appreciate and commend KOC and JJ trying to get him on the board despite all the attention he gets (TD that was called back and ball that went through Jefferson’s hands in end zone) and not adding extra pressure on JJ to pass to Jefferson and just let him go through his progression. It’s a fine balance they have to walk. Oh well…
Lastly, where are those who were beating up KOC and co when it was reported that they thought McCarthy’s footwork and mechanics was not where they wanted them to be? I guess now that Chris said it, it’s OK.
There is no doubt JJ has some issues. His accuracy needs to improve (mechanics) and he needs to not laser every throw. That pass that went thru JJs hands was a rocket. But the 4th down back shoulder completion to Nailor had the right touch.
But to the OP, exactly. The constant harping on mechanics during the season helped create a disaster. JJ aspires perfection, so he was trying to do what KOC asked. But it was too much to process in season.
Glad KOC finally realized and let him play, get some confidence.

You mean Garrett Bradbury and Vederian Lowe? Bradbury ranks as the 29th center among 39. In terms of their draft, Will Campbell was playing well when he got hurt. He's now on IR. But then he was taken 4th overall. Matt Kalil notwithstanding, it's pretty hard to miss on OLs taken in the top 5. Loved the Henderson pick in the 2nd round. But 3rd rounders Kyle Williams and Jared Wilson could in no way be considered "hits." Williams has 5 receptions on the year. Jared Wilson is the 72nd ranked guard among 80.

No surprise there, CC all over the favorites QB. Luckily the house had plenty going on, didn't really have to listen to him too much.

I don't typically pay any attention to the announcers. I'm not a Joe Buck or a Chris Collinsworth hater, but CC was particularly infuriating last night. Yeah, let's compare the body position of a QB throwing from the pocket to a QB rolling left and throwing on the run. Ridiculous.
