On the turnaround from full stock to empty cupboard— Yeah, it’s brutal when framed this way. Ugh!

You're spot on. I haven't had whiplash like this in a long, long time...

If he's as mentally quick as we're told, and he keeps showing poise/touch that we've been lacking...well, let's just say that it'd be a needed ray of sunshine in a dark season. With all due respect to JJM, I want my team's best QB and players on the field, always.

If it's Max, it's Max, and McCarthy can work on fixing what's broken from the bench.

Hell, I'll take any good news at the position this year. Sadly, I don't allow myself the anticipation of nice things football wise too often. Last year was fun though, till it wasn't.

SEATTLE - In this week's Access Vikings newsletter, I looked at the relationship that's formed between the Vikings' and Gophers' coaching staffs since Kevin O’Connell arrived, and how that helped Max Brosmer get to the Vikings.

The Vikings’ coaching staff has increased its turnout at the Gophers’ pro day each March since Kevin O’Connell became head coach, using the event as both a way to support the U’s program and a chance to scout the draftable players from a school that’s had 19 draft picks since 2019.

Max Brosmer had just arrived at the U as a transfer from New Hampshire two days before the Gophers' 2024 pro day, and was permitted to throw to the draft prospects during the workout that March morning. O’Connell and offensive coordinator Wes Phillips watched Brosmer connect with receivers on crossing routes, impressed by how effortlessly he spun the ball over the middle of the field. Afterward, O’Connell walked over to P.J. Fleck and chatted with the Gophers coach about how Fleck's new QB had impressed him.

"We go out there, support the Gophers there, and there's this kid out there who's slinging it," Phillips recalled Tuesday. "There was a leadership aspect that you could just feel out there, with how he was kind of running the show with the routes. And so to be able to see him twice out there at those pro days for Minnesota, it was kind of a sneak peek for us."

Get to know Max Brosmer
Max Brosmer is taking the next big step in his football career, starting an NFL for the Vikings today as an undrafted rookie quarterback. It's not the first big leap he's made in his playing career.

The Roswell, Ga., native received no scholarship offers from Football Bowl Subdivision programs and scant few from nearby Football Championship Subdivision schools coming out of high school, so he took his skills north to New Hampshire, where he became the second true freshman quarterback in program history to start for the Wildcats.

Brosmer led FCS in passing yards per game (313.5) in 2023 and was one of three finalists for the Walter Payton Award, given to the top player in FCS.

After five years at New Hampshire, Brosmer decided he wanted a bigger challenge that could help prepare him for a pro career, and he went all-in on the rare move of a quarterback leaving a FCS program to a team in a FBS Power Four conference, the Gophers.

In his one season at the U, Brosmer led the Gophers to a 7-5 regular-season record and win in the Duke's Mayo Bowl. He was 268-for-403 for 2,828 yards with 18 touchdowns and six interceptions, setting a single-season program record for completions.

He went undrafted, but he became a priority undrafted signing by the Vikings. The front office gave him $244,000 guaranteed to sign, equivalent to a sixth-round draft pick. He earned the No. 3 QB job with a strong training camp. (Brosmer, 24, is two years older than the quarterback he is replacing, J.J. McCarthy.)

Brosmer has appeared in three NFL games, mostly in mop-up duty. He is 5-for-8 passing for 42 yards. During the preseason, he completed 35 of 58 attempts (60.3%) for 364 yards and two touchdowns with an interception.

Gophers offensive coordinator Greg Harbaugh Jr. described Brosmer as a "a process-driven guy."

"It's an exciting time for him and for Gopher football," Harbaugh added. "He was here, starting for us, and now he's getting an opportunity of a lifetime to go out there and do his thing.''

Brosmer is smart, accurate and has a quick release.

As mentioned above he's 24 years old.

living in Washington State, it'd be epi to upset then as 12.5 point underdogs and pimp them in their own crib.

Let's go.

So far in the 1st quarter looks likes JJ stole Brosmer's number and jersey because passes are off target and the offense sucks.

Addison's drop was brutal, but there have been some overwound passes. The kid may think fast, and that's showing, but he's got first-game jitters and needs to find his "chill".

The defenses are feasting on both sides.
OK, KOC, time for that miracle....

The dropped passes are very frustrating.

Another frustrating dropped passes by Jefferson after a great Brosmer read and pass to TJ. Ugh!

On another note, are we about done talking about how the Vikings would have been if they signed Darnold? The commentators had a week to prepare for this game and that’s all they keep repeating.

Dallas Turner two sacks and one fumble. He is playing very well

You cannot make this stuff up no matter how hard you tried. The Vikings are really something else.

...aaaaaaand there's the brutal "rookie mistake" done, that desperation toss became a pick-6.

There's the lesson, kid. Please learn faster than your peer.
OK, KOC, time for that miracle....
