KOC just mentioned in his presser that JJ is in concussion protocol. I'm not a cynical guy....but.....

J.J. McCarthy is in the concussion protocol, per Kevin O'Connell. Reported symptoms on the flight home last night. Brosmer time?

Max Brosmer will work with the first team while McCarthy remains in the protocol, but O'Connell isn't ready to say that McCarthy is out for Sunday's game in Seattle.

LOLOL
So not a benching. Just a “health” concern.

Getting "right" against a very good Seattle defense on the road isn't a recipe for success and they know it. They'll offer up Brosmer as a sacrificial lamb, much like Wentz, to protect their mistake from looking even worse. We won't see McCarthy again until the following week against a beatable Washington squad at home

A concussion from the "rewiring" process?

I would almost rather have JJ starting on the road at this point. The home fans are not going to be any nicer.

A couple of things the Vikings may have going for them in Seattle, 1.) Brosmer's quick release and 2.) limited tape on Brosmer.
Tough game. It's going to be loud.

Don't know if this is a 'soft' benching or not, could be just coincidental...or not. I don't care, actually. I'm almost positive that JJ would have stunk out loud in Seattle, so its going to save him from that....maybe, I'm sure we won't know until Thursday/Friday who is starting.
So the odds favor Brosmer having a very up and down debut (if that happens), probably more downs as this is a tough Seattle D. First start as an UDFA. The expectations really are low for him. But if somehow he goes YOLO and pulls some Brock Purdy-lite shit out of his ass, its going to turn stuff upside down. I don't expect that at all, however. Yet....

Hopefully KOC hasn't spent as much time "fixing" Brosmer's mechanics as he did JJM's
Never understood the logic of "unteaching" something that has taken years to develop. So I guess our "Organization is failing young QB's" now too huh?

There is a BIG part of me that believes having JJ sit a week might be what he needs RIGHT NOW...Not a cure, more of a breather/get your head on straight.
Chances are they could be w/out Darrisaw and Jackson - the entire left of the OL too.
Looking at that remaining schedule, The Commodes appear to be the most winnable game. Maybe the only win.
Too bad for the home fans, finishing vs Lions/Pack at home with a strong Viking team would have been a hoot. Now it will be filled with boos and green/gold and honolulu blue jerseys in the stands.
F-U-G-L-Y
And that wont sit well with anyone in Eagan (or New Jersey). We could be in for some big changes this offseason if this goes off the rails like I predict.

Yesterdays game at GB would be the best predictor of what could happen in Seattle...

Hmmm.
Well, this is moderate-big at the least, potentially VERY big news.
This is the "out" to start Max on Sunday. I always remind myself that I don't see practices, detailed film work, etc, and the coaches will always have exponentially more information than I do, or any of the armchair coaches/GMs. I have to believe that JJM is showing what he's supposed to during the week, but then...?
I was worried about this week in general. The "correct" thing to do, and I was all-in on this, was to stand with the kid through his learning/developing and take the lumps. It's always a possibility with young'uns, even veterans in new systems. I figured that backing off the kid would send a Childress-esque message to our QB room going forward, and that was a nightmare.
Now, though...I don't see Brosmer as a sacrificial lamb, I see him as an experiment, a warning, and a statement to the team: whether by chance or, um, "opportunity", it looks like they're running the next man up, and in a way that doesn't really diss JJM. On the other hand, if McCarthy sees Brosmer pull a "Purdy" while he's recuperating (?), that gets very interesting, especially for the offseason.
Another very interesting week in Vikings Land....
OK, KAM, KOC, JJM, Jettas, and all the rest: Make the needed changes and let's rule 2026!
