He may have too many people trying to tell him to do this or do that, it is all getting scrambled in his head. Especially since he said he needed to rewire his brain from the way he used to play quarterback. Kwesi and KOC know this is their pick and their jobs may depend on it so the pressure is on.

If they end up with a top 10 pick there is nobody in that front office capable enough to pick a quarterback if they decide to go that route.

Which was the point I was just making in the other thread. If McCarthy continues to tank, we only win another game or two to end the season, how can the Wilfs not make changes to the decision makers going forward? Kwesi has been a disaster and McCarthy would be the cherry on top. Would they seriously keep everything status quo and give Kwesi/Grigson another offseason to set this train even further off the tracks? The Wilfs don't do anything unless the team is being booed out of the home stadium, so if that's the case, we finish the season with two at home against the Lions and Packers and I hope the home crowd let's the Wilfs hear it. Changes have to be made.

We literally won 14 games last year and 13 games 3 years ago.

There are some things KOC and Kwesi have done very right, that while it hasn’t translated to this year, it’s certainly bought them enough leash to have another try next year if they can provide a compelling plan for how 2026 won’t be another 2025. We’re probably a 10+ win team with most mid QBs out there. It’s not a stretch to think they could just offer to throw a veteran QB in there to compete with JJM and have the front office buying off on things.

Personally, I think you have to fire McCown. He’s not the guy we need for JJM. I think regarding ST, something has to change. Either you fire him because the return and coverage units suck, or you keep him because the kicker and punter are going well and bring in someone else to handle the return and coverage units. I think I would be very tempted to bring in another top OC to replace Phillips. KOC is also young. I think he needs a fresh perspective to fill in the gaps he has on running the offense and running the team as a whole and not just a placeholder guy. Somehow, he has to be managing the team as a whole, as we have so many systematic issues going on right now, and I think him focusing so much on JJM divides his attention too much. Whichever coaches aren’t handling their units well, should probably be replaced, and we should be focusing on guys that are good at getting young guys up to speed.

Agreed. That little b***h-boi flip flops all week long, looks like he should be out on his paper route, and never has anything original or insightful to add. He's my least favorite of the Vikings YouTube commenters.
OK, KOC, time for that miracle....

I agree those in charge of player acquisition aren't doing a very good job. But the truth is, right now, the only person that needs to be replaced is the QB. An average QB would make this team competitive. There are players who need upgraded but that's always true.

Getting rid of coaches who can't get results with bad players,  but not getting rid of the guys that are picking the bad players seems short sighted.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

100% and that's where you have to start is with the decision makers who have gotten us to this point.

Yeah, KOC the veteran QB whisperer.  But I am not sure he is the best for a young QB.  Listening to JJ talk about rewiring, KOC talk incessantly about base and footwork and seeing it get worse on all accounts tells me he is processing way to much.

Which is interesting because by all accounts JJ is a smart kid who came from a Jim Harbaugh coached pro style offense at Michigan. How has he gone from that to all of a sudden mechanics being an issue, accuracy being an issue, and talking about rewiring his brain from how he was taught to play quarterback? It's absolutely mind blowing and brings me back to McCown, the complexity of the KOC offense, and how is he not a better player after having the benefit of sitting and learning all last year?
