McGlothern waived
#1
The Vikings on Thursday announced they have waived cornerback Dwight McGlothern, Jr.

McGlothern has appeared in eight games this season, logging 31 snaps on defense and 16 on special teams.

The second-year pro appeared in five games as a rookie with 19 snaps on defense and 17 on special teams.

Does this move make any sense? We are already short on corner's so let's just waive one for the hell of it. Maybe they think the vaunted pass rush will cover a thin secondary. Does this front office have any clue what they seem to be doing lately?

Seems baffling to me, but by the count it doesn't look like he has been playing much. Wonder if he was the guy that went solo on the big kick return?

I assume that just means they're getting ready to put Kelly or someone else on IR back on the active roster

That makes sense.  Just wondering about our DB depth.  Still got Okudah on IR, right?

We don’t need no stinking CBs

Nashon Wright - cut by Flores in April, 6'4" 200# CB who doesn't even get the chance to go to minicamp, is a starter for the Bears with 4 interceptions, 2 against JJ
Reddy Steward - was our most impressive CB in pre season, cut by Flores, has played nickel for Cowboys this year with one start
Mekhi Blackmon - traded for a 6th, starter for Colts, two picks this year
Camryn Bynum - not resigned after being glue of secondary past few years, big part of Colts success this year, 2 picks this year

These 4 castoffs by Flores have 5 more interceptions than our entire team this year! We have absolutely no secondary and we gave away starting talent. Flores has been absolutely awful this year in game prep and game adjustments, which he is never called out on.  At what point does someone see he cannot evaluate talent.  Fully expect McGlothern to shine somewhere else.

The most obvious guy who abandoned his lane on the big kick return was Ivan Pace Jr.

Really wild that people are upset about this. McGlothern has played in less than 1/2 of 1% of all defensive snaps. He was a bottom-roster cut, likely to make room for Kelly. Plus he was a UDFA. It’s pretty obvious to me that the Vikings liked Moreau and Vaughn and the two corners they brought in this Fall  (Bartholomew and Funderburk) a little more than him. It happens.

You wanna be upset about something, be upset about trading Mekhi Blackmon for a box of Cheez-its. That is one that I still can’t get my head around.

The rumor is he's REALLY immature and not smart. Hate to say that about a young guy, but there are stump's that are smarter.
