. Interesting to hear O'Connell saying, more than once, that he's eager for the "cement to start drying" on the work everyone is doing to develop J.J. McCarthy's fundamentals.

I just wonder where all the issues with "fundamentals" has come from? His last two years at Michigan he was a 65% passer and a 72% passer. Fundamentals were the last thing you worried about with McCarthy, now the guy couldn't hit water from a boat. You'd think the one thing he could work on while injured last year were fundamentals and footwork. I just dont understand any of this or why it's become such an issue for him

I cannot even begin to fathom the pressure JJ is feeling and experiencing.

I think KOC needs to deflect, as much as possible, the criticism towards JJ. Reminds everyone this is a process. We're in the early stages of the process. Drake Maye sucked last year, now he's being mentioned for league MVP. Josh Allen another stinker in the early stages.

I find everyone's lack of faith disturbing!

He's going to look a lot better this week.

Here is the thing that worries me though. Those other guys you mentioned landed on atrocious teams lacking in talent. This Vikings team is really on paper, a playoff team. He has a receiving core most quarterbacks would die to throw to. Best offensive line we've had in years. A defense that will keep him in games. He had a year to sit and learn the offense. The issues we are seeing with McCarthy are between the ears and right now, he looks a hell of a lot like Christian Ponder. Hoping to see some signs of life before the season ends

I think that's the one thing EVERYONE on the board can agree with; give us some hope b4 the curtain falls on 2025.

The closest thing I can equate McCarthys situation to is when the Chiefs started Mahomes, who inherited a playoff ready team as a first year starter. Mahomes had an offensive mind in Andy Reid bringing him along. McCarthy has had KOC. Mahomes played great and has been great since then. JJ looks like Ponder. Despite landing in very similar situations, McCarthy has played terrible where you saw immediately the ability with Mahomes. This doesn't mean he can't turn things around, but it certainly isn't a good sign IMO
