So here's why I'm worried about JJ....

I go back to Vikings fans haven't ever seen a successful QB built from the ground up and frankly we all have been kicked in the nads so many times that this has to be that again right? McCarthy is just a bust? Because letting Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones go to bring in a crappy rookie is a very Vikings thing to do. Darnold shit the bed against the Rams again, and the last two Danny Dimes games have I think 6 turnovers by him?
So what am I say, patience is the key. Do we really know what we are looking at yet? I mean, I told my wife yesterday he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with a beachball. And then, the last series he looks like...well Sam Darnold last year. I mean, I feel like it's there, but as the late Denny Green said...he is what we thought he was...basically a rookie.

The highs, the lows, the thoughts, etc. The whole gamut. I sure as hell don't know. Just have an opinion. But I think the only way to go, to truly give it all a real chance is to be patient. But at some point, he's got to pick it up. He's got to wean himself off of these just horrible series, these chunks of game time where he looks like utter garbage. But all opinions are right as we stand now.

We all need a little hope too...including JJM!

Did anyone watch Bo Nix last year? If so, did you watch his early games? He was BRUTAL! I believe it was a Primetime game I literally thought he looked like his arm was broken or that it seemed like there was 100mph winds because he couldn't hit a receiver with no pressure and who was right in front of him over and over again. It was so bizarre that I went back and looked at his other games and I saw similar things.
However, by seasons' end, he had figured it out, to Sticky's point, something clicked. Was it Sean Payton, was it reps in practice and/or in games, was the speed of the game slowing down, was he not rushing things, was it mechanics, and/or was it something else? As Aaron Rodgers once said...R...E...L...A...X...and stop freaking booing. McCarthy knows he's sucking it up on the easy throws and he will continue to work to fix it. I'm not sure what rookie in the history of the NFL, or any other sport was given two home games before fans started booing. Despite the loser boobirds, McCarthy mustered enough guts and will to drive his offense down the field and win the game (which would have been his thrid, despite the ups and downs). As said earlier in the thread, it's not his fault the ST goobs couldn't figure out how to stay in their lane and stop the returner from the large gainer.

You HAVE to take deep shots ESPECIALLY with JJ and Addison on the team. If there is no deep threat then the defense has to cover a much smaller field and all the sweeps, slants, runs will get stuffed quickly with everyone in the box.

He was our first round pick in 1999 and played here through the 2005 season. He threw for 20,162 yards with 135 TD's.

And blew his knee out in a grotesque fashion. I would say he was the most successful, but again, it's waiting for the other shoe to drop. Culpepper was becoming an All-Pro and boom it was over. It is the kick in the nads we get.

Remember Caleb Williams last year? Bryce Young? Multiple qbs go through the roller coaster but the only way forward is through. The ups and downs, highs and lows are all part of the deal

Honestly, if Carolina is going to give Young as long as they have to figure it out, you'd think fans might give JJ more than 5 games. Young has played in 39 NFL games and is 11-26 as a starter. How many game winning drives you think he's had? JJ should have 3 in 5 games started. There's big potential there, but he needs to dial in those easy throws. Fans need to have perspective, which really is the last thing most fans have. Its ok to be concerned without losing your shit. You can criticize without sounding so completely hopeless and doom-saying. You can vent one day, find reasons for optimism the next. Hold strong opinions and then admit when they're wrong. I mean, we all want the same thing on this board, don't we? |
