This is just the problem you have with young QBs. You’re trying to fix 7 different things, while the game is too fast for them and they’re trying to diagnose coverages and everything. You can only focus on one thing a time, and the rest is going to fall back onto habits. How long does it take to create a habit? Probably longer than whatever they did last week.

I agree 100% with Sticky on the footwork and the easy throws. The bad reads into double coverage, the forced and panic throws are frustrating, but part of a young QB's maturation, however no excuse for the incredibly poor mechanics. How many more throws do we need to watch fly 10 feet over Jefferson's head when he is only 10-15 yards away.

A lot of talk this is his first year of starting, however let's not forget this is someone who had 3 years working with one of the best QB coaches in Harbaugh in addition to his work in two off seasons with KOC and his mechanics are still this poor. I can't imagine anyone working with Harbaugh for 3 years and looking as bad as he does with his footwork and mechanics. It is truly worrisome.

I dont think it's crazy to assume that many (most) qb's coming out of college have their mechanics tinkered with big time to play on Sunday.

I think Josh Allen is a good comparo and his stats first 5 games vs JJM's are eerily the same as someone already posted.

I get this sounds like excuses and it's not, but it makes sense to me these guys football tendencies are played with like putty when they leave college.

Some of this honestly is on KOC - Why the deep shots, when you know going in that it's the weakest part of JJM's game?
Shorten the field, Move the F'king sticks and extend drives.

Whats got me a little worried, was watching Bo Nix after our game. If Payton jobbed KAM and KOC on that, well we have more to feel bad about.

dont you think in any given play there are multiple routes at various depths and its JJM that is deciding which is his target? I am sure KOC is saying watch for this or that if you get this matchup, but I dont think he is specifically saying throw deep no matter what. I think JJM has it in his head that he needs to be a hero or something to prove himself, and thus far its doing the opposite. at least on those home run balls he typically isnt getting his receivers killed, some of his shorter area passes that are "catchable" are ending up with the receivers getting blasted for their efforts.

There is a point where JJ may start developing bad habits that will be hard to coach out of him. This is why I'd give him one more game to see if he can right his accuracy ship. If he can't, then game reps may in fact do more harm than good. He's so hard on himself. When he drops back to pass against Green Bay next week, all those boos and inaccurate passes are going to be front and center in his mind, which could lead to hesitation, or "aiming" the ball. I don't think you want that.

This isn't because I want to see Brosmer or because I want to win—I think our playoff changes are shot. But like all of us, I just want what's best for JJ, and at some point that may involve a reset away from the spotlight.
