Treyveon Henderson

RB was a need (and still is), but instead of delving into a deep RB draft, we trade for Jordan Mason and that move essentially took us out of draft market for a RB. At this point, not a wise decision and I said it at the time

Well, Henderson is averaging half a yard a carry more and only 48 yards more rushing so far this season. Yes, he scored 3 TDs last night but he averaged 3.3 yards a carry. I'm not saying Henderson doesn't have a higher ceiling than Mason, but I'm saying its not like night and day. NE also has a red hot Maye playing and we've got an up and down JJ McCarthy who's played 4 games. Its not like JJ's passing is helping the run game.

I'll disagree with you and say the long term potential of Treyveon Henderson is far greater than Jordan Mason. Quinshon Judkins, far higher ceiling than Jordan Mason. Ditto on your guy RJ Harvey. Whether KOC would ever use them appropriately is another discussion.

Yeah, don't necessarily disagree and as I mentioned, Henderson's ceiling is most probably higher. But like I said, my guess them being rookies with a very raw rookie at QB maybe played a role? Maybe not. I think Minnesota liked AJ and Mason very much, probably still do. But I don't see where the franchise long-term is harmed when they can draft a great RB next Spring. They pop up every single draft.

I think the biggest issue if KAM's ability to draft ANYONE worth a damn. Sadly.

Again, I think it boils down to Kwesi not reading the draft correctly, and trading for guys that play positions of strength in the draft. The quality running back depth was unusual for a draft last year. In most drafts, Henderson and Judkins are 1st round picks and no way teams landed them where they landed them. I don't think it's as easy as, "well...we can just draft a guy next year because there's players at that position every year." Not with real difference makers you won't and the quality depth in this upcoming draft certainly doesn't stack up to last year's. There's Jeremiah Love and then you might not have another back drafted until the 3rd round. Huge gap

Yeah, maybe I'm being naive about the amount of good RBs each year, but it seems like that's the case. I'd also say that the draft boards change greatly between now and April.
