Kevin O'Connell has a press conference at 12:30pm today, and if he doesn't waffle on things, it could be one of the more intriguing Vikings pressers in recent memory, given the QB situation and injury statuses all around.

I'm guessing he keeps us and Eagles wondering about QB1???

I have no idea how close JJM is or not.

They weren't calling it a high ankle sprain right away either if I am recalling this accurately.

I expect lots of coach speak to keep the eagles off-guard.

But pretty sure they called it a high ankle sprain right away.

JJ McCarthy, Donovan Jackson, Brian O’Neill and Michael Jurgens will all practice in some capacity for the #Vikings this week, per KOC.

I think getting Jackson, Jurgens, and ONeill back could be key,  if they can get those guys on the field with CD and Fries,  get a run game established early..., that could really open up the offense.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

I heard on KFAN speculation that JJM is probably 5% to play vs Eagles and not much higher for Chargers on a TNF game to follow...Reason being so little practice time due to the injury, like very little practice time.

Keep in mind, speculation only. But KOC wont risk him out there if he aint ready is my own speculation.

There's still 12 games to go, plenty of time to get a bead on the kid w/out rushing him in this week (or 4 days later.)

"I think there's the decision that is the public one," O'Connell said, "and I think there's the decision with what we're going to do for the game. And those two things can be on different timelines, although I know that's not the most comforting thing to share with you guys.

Why would he be 5% vs the Eagles?  Did someone leak that his ankle still sucks?  If not, why 5%?

# of practice reps...Again, we're not sure how much of this is "speculation" vs a leaked inside source.

If he aint getting many reps as of late? He wont play this week. Makes sense to me.

J.J. McCarthy practiced for the first time since suffering a sprained right ankle on Sept. 14, but Vikings Kevin O’Connell did not name a starting quarterback for Sunday’s game.

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell did not name a starting quarterback for Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, nor did he “want to put a percentage” on J.J. McCarthy’s health on Monday. But the second-year QB participated in Monday’s full-team practice for the first time since suffering a right high ankle sprain on Sept. 14 against the Atlanta Falcons.

“This week will be massive for our whole team,” O’Connell said, “but just to see J.J. back out there, getting reps and working through the process of building that foundation back up.”

McCarthy first returned to the field during the team’s bye last week, dropping back and throwing under O’Connell’s watch at TCO Performance Center in Eagan.

“We had some good work,” O’Connell said. “Had some good sessions out there kind of getting back to a lot of the principles of lower-body mechanics and things that had been really good parts of his early journey here.”

Carson Wentz, who has started three games since McCarthy’s injury, also practiced Monday. Wentz is in a “good place” with his injured left shoulder, O’Connell said. Wentz briefly left the Oct. 5 victory over the Browns in London after taking a hit by Cleveland linebacker Carson Schwesinger.

“He was sore coming out of the game,” O’Connell said. “The biggest thing for him is it’s a non-throwing shoulder. It’s a matter of working through that soreness as it comes to him.”

O’Connell praised Wentz having a “completion mindset” while operating the offense. Wentz ranks 11th in completion percentage leaguewide, connecting on 69 of 100 throws.

“Even some of the times where he’s maybe tried to hold onto the ball or create a play,” O’Connell said, “that’s led to maybe taking some more hits than he needs to.”
